Walt was born Jan 17, 1933, in Joseph, Ore., on Prairie Creek to Sam and Elizabeth “Lizzy” Davis. He attended schools there until enlisting in the Army at age 15. He was honor- ably discharged when they found out his true age. Davis He worked for Helix Milling Co in the early 1950s, then the UPRR as a heavy equip- ment operator until an injury forced a medical retirement. He married Marguerite (Johnson) Lawrence and they had two sons. They later divorced. He married Linda Ekin and had a son. They later divorced. He married Charlene (Parham) Papineau and they lived the last 15 years of their lives in Meacham on the “Chip- munk Ranch.” He enjoyed hunting, fishing, CB radio (Eastern Oregon Outlaw), Ham radio (W7ALT), tinkering with anything and, lastly, wildlife feeding and viewing. Walt is survived by his sons Sam Westover and Jack (Cheryl) Davis, both of Pendleton, and Dale Davis of Elgin, Ore.; stepson Dennis (Tanya) Papineau of Athena; step- daughters Susan Langley of Springfield, Ore., and Patricia (Jay) Whitteker of Elgin, Ore.; sister Ellenor Lee of Carnegie, Okla.; and numerous grandchildren.
