East Oregonian
Twice the holiday fun

in Boardman — including

Santa and SAGE Saturday.
People can start their Sat-
urday morning out with a
pancake and sausage break-
fast from 8-10:30 a.m. at the
Boardman Senior Center,

Santa Claus will be on hand
— so parents should be pre-

In addition to the meal,
kids are invited to partici-
pate in a craft activity. Also,
horse-drawn wagon rides
will be provided by Equine
Elegance. The cost is $3 per
person. For more informa-
tion, contact 541-314-4365
or
kymberli@boardman-

Afterwards,
people
are encouraged to head to

East Oregonian
A beautifully crafted
Greenleaf Beacon Hill Doll
House will be raffled off
to support educational pro-
gramming at the Children’s
Museum of Eastern Oregon.
Donated by Scott and
Sunny Waggoner and built
by Eastern Oregon Correc-

American Girl Doll donat-
ed by American Girl will be
presented in the raffle draw-

Wednesday, Dec. 21.
Both the doll house and
doll were donated, allowing
all money from ticket sales to
go directly to supporting mu-
seum programs, said Heidi
Anderson, executive director.
“We are hoping our com-
munity will take advantage
of the opportunity to win
these amazing prizes gen-
erously donated, while also
supporting the children’s mu-
seum,” she said.

Hermiston
November 5, 1934-December 5, 2016
3:00 a.m. - A man driving south on North Columbia Street,
Milton-Freewater, lost traction on his trailer and struck a cross-
walk sign in the median at the intersection of North Columbia
and North First Street. No injuries were reported.
3:01 a.m. - Oregon State Police observed a black Acura In-
tegra stopped alongside eastbound Interstate 84 near milepost
228, partially blocking the right-hand lane. The officer attempted
to make a traffic stop and the vehicle’s driver would not yield
at low speeds, then sped off at a high rate of speed; the officer
terminated the chase due to road conditions. A check of the
license plate revealed the vehicle was reported stolen from
Richland, Wash. The officer later found the vehicle stuck in a
snowbank at the exit 228 eastbound on-ramp, but the driver had
fled on foot into the woods and a search turned up nothing.
7:10 a.m. - Oregon State Police responded to a rollover
accident near milepost 202 on westbound I-84. The vehicle slid
off the roadway due to icy conditions and rolled once, landing
on its wheels. The passengers were transported to Wal-Mart in
Pendleton; there was no indication of injuries.
8:02 a.m. - A resident of Southwest 27th Street, Pendleton,
reported a window was broken out of their car but nothing ap-
peared to be missing.
8:31 a.m. - Thieves broke out the window of a vehicle parked
at Oxbow Trail, West Elm Extension and Northwest 11th Street,
Hermiston, and stole a purse and cell phone.
12:46 p.m. - Pilot Rock police took a theft report from a caller
at Southwest Birch Place.
1:27 p.m. - A man who thought his friends were playing a
joke on him finally reported his gray 1998 Ford Taurus stolen
from Eldorado Apartments, 245 N.W. 11th St., Hermiston. The
caller said the vehicle has been gone since sometime in Octo-
ber.
1:28 p.m. - A Milton-Freewater man backing out of a drive-
way in the 800 block of College Street saw a Milton-Freewater
police car approaching and tried to stop, but his car slid on the
icy street and struck the right rear quarter panel of the officer’s
vehicle. No one was injured.
3:00 p.m. - Union Pacific Railroad employees called the
Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office to report trespassers on railroad
property southeast of Meacham. The caller said the two men
with firearms were dragging a dead animal, but could give no
further details except GPS coordinates.
3:05 p.m. - Pendleton police received a theft report from a
resident of Southeast 20th Street. A package containing a laser
for her pistol was stolen from the caller’s porch while she was
out of town Nov. 25.
4:22 p.m. - A tow truck attempting to pick up a vehicle
abandoned on I-84 near milepost 223.5 slid backward into the
vehicle, damaging the passenger side rear door, according to
OSP.
5:22 p.m. - Icy roads caused a minor fender-bender on High-
way 395 South, milepost 6B, south of Pendleton.
6:22 p.m. - Umatilla police were called to the Riverside
Sports Bar and Lounge, 1501 Sixth St., for a man who reported
he was assaulted by a woman. The man was bleeding from
the nose and hand, but claimed he didn’t touch the woman. He
declined medical assistance.
8:25 p.m. - A passerby reported a fire hydrant lying in
the middle of the street outside Our Lady of Angels Catholic
Church, 565 W. Hermiston Ave., Hermiston. The caller said no
water was leaking from the hydrant’s base.
8:45 p.m. - A vehicle traveling westbound on I-84 near
milepost 176 at a high rate of speed failed to notice a vehicle in
front of it was traveling much slower due to mechanical issues.
The following vehicle rear-ended the slower one, which ended
up on the north shoulder of the road while the other came to
rest in the median. No one was injured, according to OSP.
9:34 p.m. - Pendleton police investigated a report from a
resident of Southeast Emigrant Avenue who said a neighbor is
continually hooking up his water to her outside water supply and
has also hooked up to her electricity in the past. She requested
officer contact at her home.
10:50 p.m. - OSP reported a pickup overtaking an SUV
on Interstate 84 westbound at milepost 234 slid on icy roads
and hit the SUV, causing minor damage. The pickup driver
over-corrected and hit the median barrier, and the SUV slid off
the freeway, knocking down the exit 234 sign. There were no
reported injuries.
11:07 p.m. - Pendleton police were called to oust a man
sleeping in a tent on the back lawn of the Red Lion Inn, 304
S.E. Nye Ave., and refusing to leave.
