THURSDAY, SEPT. 22
FRIENDS OF THE UMATIL-
Helena M. Reinhart,
98 years old, passed away
on Wednesday, September
14, 2016, at her home in
Weston, Oregon. Helena was
born at home near Warroad,
Minn., on March 25, 1918,
to Charles and Minnie
(Siemers) Besemann. She
and her four sisters
grew up on various
farms in northern
Minnesota.
She
married
John W. Reinhart
on October 22,
1936, and together
they raised six
children, three boys
and three girls. As
a farmer’s wife she
supplemented their Reinhart
income by working
at various jobs. She
and John moved to Parkdale,
Ore., in 1969 and went
to work for Luhr Jensen.
After retiring and losing
her husband, she moved to
Weston, Ore., in 1995 to be
closer to her family.
Helena attended church
regularly and had a deep and
abiding faith in God, which
sustained her through the
loss of four of her children.
She was a mother and
grandmother to many people
who came into her life, and
a much loved aunt. She
provided tender and unselish
care to a dear friend who died
of cancer.
Helena was an avid
hunter and isherman, loved
camping, and told awfully
good stories about those
adventures. She sewed,
knitted (she could knit socks
and watch TV at the same
time), crocheted, gardened
and loved to dance. Some
of her favorite times later in
life were spent on the Snake
River ishing with her special
friend. As she became less
active in her later years she
became a devout Mariners
fan.
Helena’s family is so
grateful for the excellent,
loving care provided to
her in the waning months
of her life by her
niece,
Shirley
Reinhart Harrison
from Minnesota,
which
allowed
Helena to stay near
her family in her
beloved
Weston
home. Walla Walla
Hospice was also
a great help and
comfort to Helena
and her family.
She is survived
by her son Ronald
Reinhart and his wife
Darlene of Athena, Ore.;
daughter Myrna Evans
and her husband Lloyd of
Baker City, Ore.; daugh-
ters-in-law Patricia and
Cheri Reinhart of Weston,
Ore.; 10 grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren;
two
great-great-grandchildren;
several
special
family
members; and numerous
nephews and nieces.
Helena was preceded in
death by her husband John,
sons Gordon and Walter,
daughters Sandra and Lorna,
and three grandchildren.
There will be a memo-
rial service at the Weston
Community Church in
Weston, Oregon, on Saturday,
September 24, 2016, at 1:00
p.m. Those who wish may
make contributions to a
charity of their choice.
