ENAMEL JEWELRY: PAINTING WITH FIRE LINDA KUCERA, INSTRUCTOR WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP: SESSION 1 JOYCE ANDERSON, INSTRUCTOR Learn the immersion process of enameling, patented by Barbara Lewis, author of the top rated book, “Torch-Fired Enamel Jewelry, a Workshop in Painting With Fire”. This process uses a torch instead of a kiln to paint metal beads with colored glass, eliminating the time, expense and clean-up that traditionally go along with kiln enameling. Learn about metals as well as opaque and transparent enamels as you create one of a kind beads. Linda will teach basic safety measures to get students comfortable with the torch too. All tools and supplies are provided. Please wear closed- toe shoes and glasses or safety glasses- the PCA has a stash available for students to use. Joyce will lead students through the bare bones of watercolor painting, focusing on a different technique in each session. Topics covered will include washes, color handling, creating depth and creating texture. Students will incorporate these techniques into two paintings of their own (we will do different paintings in each session) and end the day with an abundant skill set and supply list for continued independent practice. All materials will be provided; please bring a sack lunch along to class.
