They were gone by the time law enforcement arrived. 5:26 a.m. - An angry Stanield man prompted tow operators to call 9-1-1. They were on Tawny Court, Stanield, to take a vehicle when a man came out from the home and threatened to get a weapon. The caller asked for police and said while the vehicle is on the tow trailer, he was fearful the man would return with a weapon before they could inish securing it and leave. 8:18 a.m. - Thieves struck the Northeast Bowhunters shed at Lind Road and Union Street, Umatilla, stealing totes with forms, trophy pins and shirts. 9:13 a.m. - Two pigs escape their pens on Purdy Lane, Hermiston. Their owner reported they got out sometime since Tuesday around 9 a.m. One was a sow, the other a boar, and both weigh about 60-70 pounds. 9:38 a.m. - A mother told Pendleton police her son is a drug addict, she has not heard from him in nine months, and she has no idea where he lives, but she identiied someone he used to associate with years ago. 9:43 a.m. - A Pendleton woman on Southwest Ladow Avenue told police she coaxed a cat bleeding behind both ears into her house and would like an oficer to take it. 12:21 p.m. - A caller at St. Anthony Hospital, 2801 St. Anthony Way, Pendleton, reported someone parked in a handicapped spot near the emergency entrance and locked a small dachshund inside the car with the windows rolled up. 1:44 p.m. - A caller reported she stored her vehicle at a home on Lewis Lane, Milton-Freewater, and found out the man there sold her tires and rims off the car, the engine, which was original, and possibly the air conditioning. 4:46 p.m. - An employee at Threemile Canyon Farms, Boardman, reported a supervisor hit on her at work and made her feel uncomfortable. The Morrow County Sheriff’s Ofice advised her to talk to her employer irst. 5:18 p.m. - A Pendleton female had an allergic reaction to a bee sting. 8:53 p.m. - Pendleton police received a report of two groups ighting at the softball ields at Community Park on Southwest 37th Street. 10:26 p.m. A 9-1-1 caller told Pendleton police a man and woman were ighting in the parking lot at Blue Mountain Village Apartments, 2700 S.W. Goodwin Ave., Pendleton. 10:51 p.m. - A woman at Shari’s Restaurant & Pies, 319 S.E. Nye Ave., Pendleton, told police there was a vehicle in the back of the parking lot there, and a man she knows informed her he was with a woman and they took that car because police were looking for it. They then broke a window on the car to get their belongings from the trunk, and the man then found a gun and left with the woman. The caller also said she did not know the woman. ARRESTS, CITATIONS •Oregon State Police cited Joshua Elias Nelson, 40, of Vancouver, for possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest, and tampering with physical evidence. The arrest came during a trafic stop around 8 a.m. on the northbound side of Highway 37 near milepost 25 when a trooper recognized a driver he knew was driving while suspended, according to a report from state police. The driver gave permission for the trooper to search the Dodge van. He then found Nelson, one of the passengers, had meth. Nelson struggled as the trooper tried to arrest him and swallowed the drug, which won him a trip to a St. Anthony Hospital, Pendleton. There, he took off with an IV in his arm and was in the parking lot, which prompted staff to call Pendleton police. When it was all done, the trooper released Nelson to have to appear in court later to face the charges. •Umatilla police arrested Paul Edward Robinson, 49, of 10 Jackson St., Umatilla, for possession of methamphetamine. •Pendleton police arrested Michael Raymond LaFountain, 28, a predatory sex offender from La Grande who skipped his last meeting with his parole oficer, for violating parole, giving false information and felon in possession a weapon. •Stanield police arrested Jose Heladio Ramirez- Fernandez, 37, no address provided, for possession of methamphetamine and on a misdemeanor warrant. •Pendleton police arrested Mariah Kay Hurse, 19, of Pendleton, on a state hold and for giving false information, third-degree escape, interfering with a peace oficer and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors. She was married to Max Allison McKenzie on February 19, 1983, this marriage later ended. On March 15, 1996, she married Jack Arthur Reid; the couple recently celebrated twenty years of marriage. Debbi had worked for the city of Pendleton for 21 years. She later worked for the Stanield Cemetery District and with her husband Jack owned and operated Reid Embroidery. Debbi loved watching her grandkids play ball. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, canning, cooking and hunting. She is survived by her husband Jack Reid of Pendleton; her daughter Julie McKenzie-Fenni- more and husband Erik of La Grande, Ore.; stepsons Ben Reid of Elk River, Idaho, Andy Reid of Pasco, Wash., Matt Reid of Condon, Ore., and Ken Reid of Umatilla, Ore.; her siblings Donna Riggs of Pendleton, Ore., Andy Riggs of St. Helens, Ore., Shirley Riggs-Mann of St. Helens, Ore., Ella Mae (Bobbi) Riggs- Jackson of Canyon, Texas, and Jack Riggs, Delbert Riggs, Terry Riggs and Diana Nish, all of St. Helens, Ore.; her grandchildren Jerad McKenzie and Jacobi Rudd, several other grandchildren; one great-grandchild Alistair Daniel McKenzie; and numerous nieces and nephews. LOUIS, Mo. — William Johnson of Pasco, Wash., has been selected as a recipient of Equipment Dealers Association’s Equipment Dealers Foundation (EDF) Scholarship for the 2016-17 academic year. Johnson’s total scholarship of $2,000 includes matching funds from his sponsoring equipment dealership, RDO Equipment Company in Hermiston. He will be attending Walla Walla Community College. Scholarship funds totaling $36,000 were awarded to qualiied students/trainees who were sponsored and recommended by equipment dealerships throughout the United States and Canada. Davison of Pendleton is the 2016 recipient of the $2,500 Gladys and Harry Masenhimer Memorial Scholarship for use at Blue Mountain Community College during the upcoming school year. Davison, a 2015 graduate of Pendleton High School, will be a sophomore at BMCC this fall, working towards completion of her Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree. She hopes to eventually earn a bachelor’s degree in earth science, with a focus on paleontology. Members of the Masenhimer family fund this award annually as a memorial to their parents, Gladys and Dr. Harry Masenhimer, who were longtime Pendleton residents. Oregon State P.E.O. Chapter BJ selects recipients for this honor from among outstanding local women who are pursuing advanced degrees. And Lexie Lorraine Campbell of Pilot Rock has received a $2,000 scholarship from the chapter for use at Blue Mountain Community College during the 2016-2017 school year.
