special certifi cation
David and Becky Aichele
David Aichele and Becky
Spearman were married on
August 6, 1966, in Herm-
iston, Ore., by Bishop See.
Attending were her maid of
honor, Treva DeMoss, and
his best man, Donald Aichele.
They resided in Hermiston,
where David worked at the
U.S. Army Depot and
attended
college.
Later, they moved
to
Springfi eld,
Ore., and fi nally
to The Dalles,
Ore., where they
currently
reside.
They have lived in
The Dalles for 43 years.
David retired as a senior
operator at Celilo Converter
Station with Bonneville
Power Administration and
Becky retired as a well-loved
Secretary at Dry Hollow
Elementary with The Dalles
School
District.
While
raising their three children,
Jeanne, David Jr. and Lori,
they enjoyed participating
and volunteering in various
sports: baseball, soccer, swim
team, tennis and bowling.
They continue to be avid
sports fans and enjoy
rooting for the
Oregon
Ducks.
Dave and Becky
especially enjoy
fi shing, camping
and hunting in
the mountains, and
visiting family and
friends in the Hermiston
area. Dave is a member of
The Dalles Country Club and
plays golf often. They have
seven grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.

Cheri Rhinhart, director
of information technology at
InterMountain Education
Service District since 2005,
recently earned the Certifi ed
Education
Technology
Leader designation.
Awarded by the Consor-
tium for School Networking,
the certifi cation signifi es
that Rhinhart has mastered
the knowledge and skills
needed to bring 21st century
technology to kindergarten
through 12th grade school
systems. Nationwide, about
233 individuals have the
certifi cation, including four
in Oregon.
To become certifi ed,
candidates must demon-
strate experience in the
education technology fi eld
and pass a comprehensive
examination based on 10
identifi ed skill areas. After
certifi cation is earned, the
candidate must complete 60
hours of professional devel-
opment activities every
three years to maintain the
designation.
Rhinhart said educational
technology is ever-changing.
The special designation, she
said, assists in keeping the
department current, which
results in providing the best
technology environment for
students.

16-year
anniversary with food, fun,
entertainment and several
raffl e draws.
The July 16 event also
featured a vintage car show
by the Blue Mountain
Model A Club. Residents,
families and guests enjoyed
it, said Executive Director
Noemi Wiseman. Also in
attendance was Raeann
Voohries, the facility’s
regional director of oper-
ations, and the Pendleton
Chamber of Commerce
Ambassadors.
Several certifi cates of
recognition were presented
to staff and residents,
including Bill Storie, who
has resided at the facility the
longest. He also received a
commemorative anniversary
T-shirt.

pastoral ministry for
22 years in Indiana,

before returning

Pendleton,
where Rod was
born and raised, in
1989. They worked
at Eastern Oregon
Training Center, Rod for 17
years and Toni for 11 years,
before they retired.

Kudos to the Pendleton Center for the
Arts for bringing the accomplished and
energetic Scottish traditional music quartet
The Fire to perform on July 22.
This was a wonderful concert, featuring
a wide variety of old and new music in the
traditional style, by some very talented and
dedicated musicians. The arts center is a
tremendously important asset to our commu-
nity that adds signifi cantly to the quality of
life in our area.
I also want to thank the anonymous donor
who gave a contribution to the arts center for
this concert in memory of my late, beloved
husband, Jack Sanders. He would have
been honored by this tribute to him, not only
because of the caliber of the music, but also
because of the musicians’ obvious profes-

Woman applauds success of
Bible school summer camp
This letter is to congratulate the Presby-
terian and Christian churches, who allowed
me to assist with their Vacation Bible
School Camp this summer. It was very well
run by lots of wonderful volunteers.
The children had science activities,
recreation activities, arts and crafts, music
and movement, as well as meaningful Bible
lessons. They enjoyed treats that supported
their activities at Cave Quest.
