of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. Private burial will
be held at St. Peters Parish Center Cemetery in The Dalles.

9:24 a.m. - Tools and other items were stolen from vehicles
broken into at a residence on Southwest Perkins Avenue,
Pendleton.
10:03 a.m. - A resident of Columbia Boulevard, Umatilla,
reported someone broke her windows with eggs sometime
during the night. Another resident on Naches Avenue, Umatilla,
reported his house was egged at 12:04 p.m.
12:05 p.m. - A rear license plate was reported stolen from a
2000 Dodge Dakota pickup on Jeppeson Lane, Hermiston.
12:31 p.m. - Three vehicles crashed on Highway 395 near
Fiesta Foods in Hermiston and one of the vehicles drove off,
according to a motorist involved in the crash. There were no

1:52 p.m. - A verbal disagreement at Homestead

into something more serious when a woman on a balcony

went back inside the apartment and the caller reported a
four-year-old child also was inside the home.
1:53 p.m. - An employee of the Department of Human
Services reported a disabled senior living in Weston was
defrauded of $600 by a woman who took her debit card.
2:12 p.m. - A woman driving a white Chevy Monte Carlo
reached through the window of the Hermiston Dutch Brothers
drive through trying to hit the employee.
2:59 p.m. - Two handguns were stolen from a pickup parked
on Southwest 18th Street, Pendleton.
5:03 p.m. - A resident of Security Apartments, S.W. Court
Ave., Pendleton, called police after a maintenance man
knocked on her door, let himself into her apartment when she
did not respond, and undressed. The caller said the man left the

5:20 p.m. - A medical marijuana grow on Bingham Road,
Adams, was raided sometime during the weekend by someone
who used a splitting maul to chop a hole in a motor home door
and stole a marijuana pipe and marijuana. The owner of the
motor home repaired the door, and then someone returned a

6:19 p.m. - A man on Northwest Church and North Main
streets, Heppner, was assaulted by a man who pulled over his
car, jumped out and punched him. The Morrow County Sheriff’s

6:41 p.m. - A cell phone was stolen sometime July 5 from a
camp trailer on East View Drive, Hermiston. The caller named a
possible suspect.
8:08 p.m. - A group of people were playing basketball on NE
Alora Drive, Hermiston, and a woman reported the male driver
of a vehicle that had been parked nearby for an hour tried to
entice one of her granddaughters in his vehicles with candy.
8:28 p.m. - The Umatilla Police Department investigated a
reported domestic assault at a home on Southshore Drive.
8:56 p.m. - A resident of Southeast 16th Street, Pendleton,
called police after a young man walking by his house asked if
he could throw knives at a stump in the caller’s yard. Pendleton

address not provided, on charges of second-degree burglary,

•Hermiston police arrested Codey Allen Sanders, 22,
address not provided, for possession of methamphetamine,
carrying a concealed weapon, contempt of court and on a felony
failure to appear warrant.
•Hermiston police arrested Pablo Juan Loreno, 33, address

hit and run with property damage.
HONORS
Local students named to honor society
BATON ROUGE, La. — John Abreu of Pendleton
and Gary Walter of Milton-Freewater were initiated into
the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest
and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic
disciplines. Both are students at Eastern Oregon University.
Membership is by invitation and requires nomination
and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors
and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester
hours, are eligible for membership. Graduate students in
the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate
degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff
and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

at Good Shepherd Medical
Center

Hermiston,
Oregon, at the age of 89.
She was born October
28, 1926, in Echo, Oregon,
to parents Julian and Irene
(Moenhke) Rauch. Jean
went to school in Lexington,
Oregon, and graduated from
Heppner High School. After
graduation, she attended
Whitman College where
she studied voice. After
a year she enrolled in a
business college in Spokane,
Washington. While there she
continued voice lessons at
Gonzaga University.
Jean met her husband,
David J. Pardue, in Spokane.
They were married on May
28, 1948, in Hermiston at
the Trinity Lutheran Church.
After David was discharged
from the service, they made
their home in the Hermiston
area. Jean concentrated on
raising their children and
being a homemaker. When
the children were older,
she started working at the
6WDQ¿HOG/LEUDU\WKHQDWWKH
Hermiston Library followed
by PGG and retiring at age
70 from Pioneer Implement.
Later Jean moved to Irrigon
DQG¿QDOO\WR%RDUGPDQ
Jean enjoyed singing,
gardening, reading and
travel. Her Christian faith
had also become a very
strong part of her life.
She is survived by
her son, Gary Pardue of
Hermiston; daughters Renee
Wilber of Pendleton, Chris-
tine Miller of Redlands,
Calif., and Theresa Pardue
of Boardman; six grandchil-
dren; and 10 great-grand-
children.
She was preceded in
death by her husband, David
Pardue; son Jeffrey Pardue;
grandson Chad Harding;
brother Irvin Rauch; and
parents Julian and Irene
Rauch.
Private family burial
was held at the Hermiston
Cemetery.
