Frances E. “Sis” Papineau
Beck passed away on July
1, 2016, in Hermiston,
Oregon, from complications
after a stroke, surrounded
by family and friends at the
age of 89 years. She was
born on February 8, 1927, in
Austin, Oregon, to parents
Agnes Schoonover
Papineau and Frank
Papineau.
Frances went by
“Sis” most of her life
due to being raised
with ive brothers.
She was raised in
the Lexington and
Heppner, Oregon,
area.
Frances
married
William
“Bill” Beck on Beck
November
30,
1943, in Hood
River, Oregon, at the age of
16. They had two daughters,
Donna & Phyllis. They were
married for 58 years when Bill
preceded her in death in 2001.
Frances was a homemaker,
daughter, sister, mother and
grandmother, and always a
good friend to all she met. She
loved to sew, cook, and raise
lowers. Several grandchil-
dren made birdhouses with
her help. Having been raised
around sawmills, she loved
the smell of fresh cut wood.
She is survived by her
daughters Donna Van Zante
and her husband Wayne,
Clarkston, Wash., and Phyllis
Mayes, Hermiston, Ore.;
brothers Ray Papineau and
wife Gay, and Earl Papineau
and wife Edith, both of
Lexington, Ore.; four grand-
children; eight great-grand-
children;
ive
great-great-grand-
children;
and
numerous
nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded
in death by her
husband, her parents
and three brothers,
Freddie, Wayne and
Dale Papineau.
A
graveside
funeral service will
be held on Saturday,
July 9, 2016, at
10:00 a.m. at the Lexington
Cemetery,
Lexington,
Oregon. A luncheon will
follow at the Rebekahs Lodge
in Lexington, Ore.

Edna E. Knifong, 87, of Milton-Freewater died Saturday,
June 25, 2016, at her home. She was born Sept. 17, 1928,
in Deary, Idaho. Inurnment will be held Saturday, July 9
at 10 a.m. at the Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla.
Memorial services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Stateline
Community Church in Milton-Freewater. Arrangements are
with Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater.

Romana Ramirez of
Hermiston, Oregon, was
born on August 9, 1928, in
Marquez, Texas. She died on
July 4, 2016, in Hermiston at
the age of 87 years.
Romana was raised and
attended schools in Mitchell,
Nebraska. She married Frank
Deleon Ramirez on
January 10, 1948,
in Mitchell. They
lived in Sidney,
Nebraska,
until
moving to Herm-
iston in 1964 where
they have lived
since.
Romana
stayed at home to
raise her children
until they were in
school.

worked full-time
as a nurse’s aide at Good
Samaritan Center, and while
working attended Blue
Mountain College to acquire
her LPN nursing degree.
She continued working as
a nurse at Good Samaritan
Nursing Home until retiring
in 1990.
Romana was a member
of Our Lady of Angels
Catholic Church where
she was active in Catholic
Daughters. She was also
a former member of the
Eagles Auxiliary # 2909.
She enjoyed gardening,
quilting, sewing, crocheting,
and most of all time with her
family.
Romana was a loving
wife, mother and grand-
mother who always put the
needs of others before her
own. She was supportive,
nurturing, a hard worker
and had a wonderful sense
of humor. She was known
for her words of wisdom
and her family dinners.
She will be dearly missed
by all who knew and loved
her. Her family and loved
ones know her to be a
saint walking among us
whose heart, body and soul
are unparalleled, and feel
certain God received her
with open arms.
She is survived by
husband Frank Ramirez,

Recitation of the rosary
will be held on Saturday,
July 9, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at
Our Lady of Angels Catholic
Church, Hermiston, with
Mass of Christian burial to
follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial
will follow at the Hermiston
Cemetery.

chapel of House-Rawlings
Funeral Home in London,
Ky. Burial will follow in the
Thomas Cemetery. The family
will receive friends after 11:00
a.m. until the funeral hour,

Howard Rudolph Enbysk
passed away May 10, 2016,
in an assisted living home
in Anchorage, Alaska, at the
age of 82. He was cremated.
A Celebration of
Life was held at
the Alaska Bridge
Club, Anchorage,
Alaska, on May
25th, 2016.
Born October 7, 1933,
he was the sixth child of
six children of Laura and
Edward Enbysk in Adams,
Oregon. He graduated from
Pendleton High School in
1951 and then married his
high school sweetheart,
Darlyne Horne.
He attended Oregon
State University until he
joined the U.S. Air Force in
1952. He lew cargo planes
and lived in a variety of
locations throughout his
military career, including
Abilene,
Texas;
Enid,
Oklahoma; Ogden, Utah;
Stephenville, Newfoundland
Island, Canada; Thailand;
and Lakewood, Washington.
The family’s last destination
was when they loaded up
the camper and moved to
Anchorage, Alaska,
where they lived
since 1970.
Howard retired
from the military
in October 1975 as
a major. After the military
Howard and his wife Darlyne
bought and ran the Alaska
Bridge Club because of their
love for the game. Howard
taught bridge classes and
went ishing around Alaska
whenever he could.
He is survived by his
son, Michael H. Enbysk,
Anchorage, Alaska; his
granddaughter,
Brittany
Cifranic, Clovis, California;
and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death
by his beloved wife Darlyne,
his daughter Leesa, his
parents and his brothers and
sisters.
