Brody Woods pitched into the seventh inning, and Jason Fitzpatrick and Adrian Renner each had three hits to lead the Tigers into the quarterfi nals for the second-straight season. Woods fi nished with two runs allowed, but neither of them earned, off four hits, two walks and three hits batters over 6 1-3 innings. He struck out seven. Tony Flores relieved him in the seventh, and struck out the fi nal two batters. The No. 3 Tigers (26-2) committed two of their four errors to allow the No. 14 Honkers (20-8) to take a 1-0 lead in the fi rst inning, but responded with four runs in their at-bat. Thyler Monkus walked to lead off and Flores followed with a single. Dylan Grogan then singled and Lakeview made an error trying to fi eld the ball to bring Monkus and Flores around for a 2-1 lead. Lakeview didn’t score again until the seventh. Prep Baseball Sater, Dearing give TigerScots boost Weston-McEwen beat Regis to reach state quarterfi nals East Oregonian ATHENA — The TigerScots took the lead with three runs in the sixth inning, then Hunter Sater struck out the fi nal batter in the seventh with the go-ahead run on second base as Weston-McEwen baseball defeated Regis 4-3 in the OSAA 2A/1A fi rst round on Wednesday. The No. 6 TigerScots (19-8) knotted the score at 2-2 with one out in the sixth when Lake Albert hit into a fi elder’s choice that allowed Jimmy Patrick to score from third when the No. 11 Rams (14-10) went for the out at second base. Albert advanced to third when singles by Travis Hendley and Shaw Broncheau loaded the bases, and Brendan Dearing gave the TigerScots a 4-2 lead with a two RBI single. Sater took the bump in the seventh to relieve Patrick, and faced bases loaded with one out after a pair of Regis singles and a Baseball Weston-McEwen Regis 4 3 walk. A fl y out put the Tiger- Scots one out from victory, but the Rams refused to lay down and made it 4-3 on a Tanner Williams infi eld single before Sater struck out Charlie Gescher swinging to get the win. Scots (19-4) in control and Harrisburg beats Echo in first round Softball East Oregonian HARRISBURG — Brit- tany Ensley held the Echo Cougars to three hits and drove in four runs from the plate to guide Harrisburg to a 7-4 win in the fi rst round of the OSAA 3A Softball State Tournament on Wednesday. No. 10 Echo (19-9) scored all of its runs in the fi nal two innings after falling behind 4-0. But when the Cougars scored twice on passed balls in the sixth to make it 4-2, Ensley gave her team the deciding margin with a three-run home run in the bottom of the frame. She fi nished 2 for 2 and also scored three runs while striking out eight and Harrisburg Echo 7 4 walking seven from the rubber.
