2:53 p.m. - A manager at the Pilot Travel Center, 2115

gun that looked similar to a real gun. The deputy advised him
to stop carrying it or paint it orange, although Oregon is an
open-carry state.
6:48 p.m. - A Pilot Rock resident was the target of a
computer scam. She told police someone claiming to be with
Microsoft “global support” called from 1-844-446-4470, told her
Russians hacked her computer, then had her turn over control
of her computer. After 30 minutes, she said, the caller wanted
money. She did not, though, give him her credit card number.
She also said he planned to call again Friday.
Remember, Microsoft and other computer software makers
will not call you about threats to your computer, nor will other
companies, such as Dell, which makes computers. If you get
one of these calls, do not provide information and do not allow
remote access to your computer. Instead, hang up and call the
authorities.
