DEATH NOTICES
WEDNESDAY
1:44 a.m. - A resident of Southeast Fifth Street, Irrigon,
awoke to his dog “going nuts,” and stated that he saw
someone crouched down outside the fence. Morrow County
sheriff’s deputies were unable to ind the lurker.
6:47 a.m. - Pendleton police were called to a one-vehicle
accident at Murietta Road and Westgate, Pendleton. The
pickup was on its side but the driver was out of the vehicle
when police arrived.
7:45 a.m. - Prescription sleeping medication was
reported stolen from a residence on West Second Street,
Ione.
7:50 a.m. - A resident of North Hunt Street, Athena,
advised the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Ofice that two of their
vehicles were broken into the previous night.
8:22 a.m. - Umatilla police received a report of a man
who appeared to be burying a bird in front of the city shops
on Eighth and G streets.
8:52 a.m. - An Ione resident was a victim of the
“grandson scam” and reported she wired $1,800 to the
scammers before realizing she had been taken in. She
requested contact from a Morrow County sheriff’s deputy.
9:08 a.m. - Employees of Safeway, 220 S.W. 20th St.,
Pendleton, reported an intoxicated man was becoming
belligerent in the Wells Fargo bank area of the store.
11:11 a.m. - A group of motorcyclists, all wearing black
jackets and helmets and riding orange motorcycles, were
weaving in and out of trafic and driving erratically as they
entered Pendleton on Highway 11. The Umatilla County
Sheriff’s Ofice investigated the complaint.
12:42 p.m. - Pendleton police investigated a second-
hand report of a man possibly carrying a gun in the vicinity
of Northwest 14th Street and Carden Avenue.
1:08 p.m. - Morrow County sheriff’s deputies took a theft
report from a resident of Southwest Fourth Street, Irrigon,
who reported her Chiweenie dog and $2,500 cash missing.
The caller named suspects in each of the thefts.
4:52 p.m. - Umatilla County sheriff’s deputies were called
to a possible domestic disturbance at a residence on West
Garield Street, Athena. The caller said her brother, who
had earlier threatened to kill her on the phone, had walked
through the door of her home. Threats were being made,
the caller said, because their mother is not well.
5:01 p.m. - Pendleton emergency services were called to
a home on Northwest Johns Lane after a riding lawn mower
fell on a 72-year-old woman, causing bleeding.
5:36 p.m. - A resident of North Second Street, Athena,
reported to the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Ofice that her
dog had been poisoned. She named a suspect, a seven-
year-old girl, and said she found greenish-colored meat in
her yard that she did not give to her dog.
6:40 p.m. - A resident of Powerline Road, Umatilla,
called Umatilla police to report she had just moved into the
residence and returned home to ind the neighbor kids had
egged her house. She wanted to pursue vandalism charges.
9:19 p.m. - A resident of Northwest Fifth St., Pendleton,
reported his girlfriend kicked in his door and when his
daughter attempted to call police the woman ripped the
phone out of the wall. The daughter led to a neighbor’s
residence.

warrant and for criminal mischief.
