Hermiston OKs
new coaches
HERMISTON — The
Hermiston school board
approved the contracts
for Elise Flemming and
Krystofer
Lopez to
become the
new varsity
volleyball
and
lacrosse coaches respectively
at their meeting on Monday
evening.
Flemming will inherit
a young roster as she takes
over for Dorothy Smith who
led the Bulldogs to a 5-11
overall record and 1-8 CRC
record in her only year at the
helm.
Lopez — a Hermiston
alumnus and current
assistant coach — will
replace Jacob Arnold as
coach. Arnold began the year
as the varsity assistant before
sliding into the head role
following the sudden death
of coach Trampis Palmer in
early April.
Stephen Curry
is 1st unanimous
NBA MVP
OAKLAND, Calif.

the fi rst unanimous NBA
MVP, earning the award for
the second straight season

Curry made a record 402
3-pointers and averaged an
NBA-best 30.1 points per
game to go with 6.7 assists
and 5.4 rebounds. He also
shot 50.4 percent from the
fi eld, 45.4 percent from
3-point and 90.8 percent
from the foul line.

Alexis Morrison has done it all for
the Pendleton Buckaroos in 2016.
From her lead-off spot in the
batting order, she has hit for power,
scored numerous runs and swiped
many bases, and she has been a stal-
wart in the Buckaroo outfi eld from
her centerfi eld position.
And just has she has in many
games this season, Morrison
displayed all of those skills on
Tuesday afternoon as she powered
her team to a 10-0 win over The
Dalles Riverhawks in fi ve innings at
Steve Cary Field.

Morrison cashed in a perfect
day on offense going 4-4 with three
singles, three runs scored, and two
stolen bases, as well as the game-
ending RBI triple in the fi fth inning
to give the Bucks the 10-run win.
Morrison says that Tuesday was
one of those days where the ball just
looked bigger for her at the plate.
“Yeah, sometimes the ball does
look like a beach ball like today,”
Morrison said. “Sometimes you just
have those days where balls drop in
and some days you hit well and they
get caught and I was lucky today.”

Greb shot a two-over par 74 to tie for the tour-
nament low and make up a two-stroke defi cit
on Crater senior Daniele Giles on Tuesday at
Indian Creek Golf Course.
Greb and Giles fi nished tied with 150 to win
the 36-hole Special District 2 championships
and Pendleton earned a team berth at the state
tournament with a third-place fi nish.
Shelby Greb placed seventh for Pendleton,
which cut nearly 20 strokes from its team score
in the second round to fi nish with a two-day
total 362-345—707.
“I was really proud of them the way they
came back and lowered their scores,” said
Pendleton coach Terry Prouse. “They were sort
of pleased with their scores.”
