On April 5th, 2016, Trina
Lee Eckley lost her battle
with cancer and passed away
with her family around her.
Trina was born on May
25th, 1954, to Jim and Rae
Bevan, who moved to Herm-
iston when she was young.
Trina was baptized into the
Hermiston
SDA
church in March
1972. She has been
a faithful member of
the Hermiston SDA
church and active
with the youth and
3ath¿nder club for
many years, even
up until just weeks
before her death.
Trina
Bevan
and Conrad Eckley Eckley
were married in
November 1972 at
the Hermiston SDA church,
becoming a member of
the Eckley family. Trina
and Conrad raised three
children in Hermiston:
Celena Veverka, Traci Riggs
and Jared Eckley. Trina is
survived by her husband
Conrad, their three children,
and two grandchildren as
well as her sister Vickie
Samson. She was preceded
in death by her parents and
brother Ken Bevan.
Trina has worked for
various
businesses
in
Hermiston and is known for
being a loyal employee and
having a strong work ethic.
Most recently she worked
at The Horizon Project as
receptionist and administra-
tive assistant. Trina began
working there after having
surgery for colon cancer. She
said that the workers and the
clients just got into her heart.
Even when she was feeling
sick and weakened by her
cancer, she insisted on going
to work because she loved
the staff and clients. She
often said that they made
her feel part of something
special, something that made
a difference in people’s lives.
Trina was an avid gardener
and loved being outdoors
digging in the dirt, planting
and enjoying the fruit of her
labor. Just days before her
death she was talking about
how she needed to be out in
her garden getting it ready
instead of sitting around
being sick. Trina
loved musicals and
old movies, which
she shared with her
children and anyone
who was interested.
She was an artist
and
seamstress,
sewing shirts for
Conrad,
sewing
wedding dresses and
daily clothing, baby
blankets, etc. Trina
was a wonderful
cook and often
gave credit to her beloved
mother-in-law, Lois Eckley,
for teaching her. She loved
camping and being in the
woods, another love she
shared with her family. In
the last few years Trina and
Conrad made many trips in
their trailer to the mountains
and beach, making the
most of their time together
and enjoying each other’s
company.
Trina will be remembered
as a beloved daughter, sister,
wife, mother, grandmother
and friend. Through her
illness Trina maintained her
faith in God and believed
that while God may not heal
her now, he will heal her
someday when she sees him
face to face and he calls her
name.
A memorial service will
be held at the Hermiston
SDA Church on Saturday,
April 23rd at 4:00 p.m.

Known as “Katy” to the
community, she was born
in Sheridan, Arkansas, to
W.O. and Lillian (Butler)
Roberts. She was raised in
McNeill, Akansas. Katy was
the second youngest of four
siblings.
After rapidly completing
high school, she began her
teaching career at the age of
18. Then during the Second
World War, she was a train
operator for the Cotton Belt
Railroad. After the war she
traveled to Weston, Oregon,
to teach fourth and ¿fth
graders. On August 22,
1952, she married Jimmie
C. McLean in Fort Worth,
Texas. The couple lived in
Weston and had two sons,
Scott and Michael. Following
her husband’s death in 1968,
she returned to teaching
at Weston-McEwen High
School as librarian. She also
coached JV girls basketball
for many years. Katy also
did substitute teaching in
Milton-Freewater, Weston
and Athena. She retired in
1989.
She was a sports enthu-
siast and avid golfer. She
was well known among other
golfers in Walla Walla for her
incessant jokes and broad
smile. She was a devoted
and vocal fan of the WM
Tigerscots and Whitman
College women’s basketball
teams of the 1990s. She was
a member of the Weston
Methodist Church and Lady
Elks #2146.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, husband,
sisters Frances and Nancy
Ruth, and brothers Bill and
Don.
Katy is survived by two
sons and their wives, Scott
and Lisa Brandes McLean
of New Haven, Conn., and
Michael and Michele Wagner
McLean of Imbler, Ore.,
and three grandsons, Jake
McLean of Eugene, Ore., Ian
McLean of La Grande, Ore.,
and Charlie McLean of New
Haven, Conn.
Loretta “Hope” Phillips of
Pendleton, Oregon, former
longtime Boardman, Oregon,
resident, was born on January
16, 1945, in Gooding, Idaho,
to parents Herbert and Olive
Wolfe Points. She died on
April 14, 2016, in Pendleton,
Oregon, at the age of 71 years.
Hope was raised
in Haines, Oregon,
until 1955 when
the family moved
to Baker, Oregon,
where she graduated
in the class of 1963
from Baker High
School. She worked
for a time as a wait-
ress and then went to
work as a bank teller
at First National Phillips
Bank.
Hope married
George Phillips in 1967 in
Weiser, Idaho. They moved
around to follow George as he
worked construction for the
railroad for several years. They
moved to Boardman, Oregon,
in 1974 and other than a brief
period they continued to live
there until George passed
in 2011. Hope worked in
Boardman at city hall, the local
grocery store, and at Wilson’s
Willow Run Golf Course for
10 years. She moved to Pend-
leton, Oregon, in 2011 and has
lived there since.
She became an active
member of the Pendleton
First Christian Church, and
had been active in Tillicum
Club, Eagles, VFW Auxil-
iary, C.W.F., Bell Choir and
Faithful Comfort Crafters.
Hope enjoyed gol¿ng, sewing
and crocheting.
Thelma ‘Rosalie’ Seibel

October 11, 1928-March 17, 2016
Thelma “Rosalie” Seibel of
the Stan¿eldHermiston area
passed away Thursday March
17, 2016, at Sun Terrace
Assisted Living facility of
natural causes. Rosalie was
87.
Rosalie was born October
11, 1928, in Moberly,
Missouri, to Mari-
gold and Everette
Ancell. She was
proceeded in death
by brother Jimmy,
sisters
Pauline,
Jeannie, MaryLou
and Sharon, and
also granddaughter
Tammy
Michele
Weber. Rosalie will
be deeply missed
by her son Johnny Seibel
Lee (Cindy) Seibel,
daughters
Clara
Louise (Grant) Bruner and
Buddie Jean Nelson, and
brother Everette Wayne
(Kris) Ancell, as well as her
grandchildren Timothy John
Bruner, Randy Wayne Seibel,
Brian Lee Seibel, Tess (Seibel)
Reedman, Nathan Seibel,
Justin Morrell, Megan Ann
Harris, Stacey Oschelarger
and Nicole DeWall, and 16
great-grandchildren.
Rosalie was married July
20, 1947, to Ralph John “Bud”
Seibel and lived on a farm in
Stan¿eld, Oregon, where they
raised their three children and
her brother Wayne. Rosalie
enjoyed the outdoors and
spent many a day deer and elk
hunting. She was known for
shooting a bear out of a tree
with her long bow.
Rosalie spent many years as
an outstanding Moose Lodge
member and became presi-
dent of the women’s auxiliary.
On any given Sunday you
could ¿nd her in the kitchen
cooking a fantastic breakfast
for her many longtime friends
and family. There she became
reacquainted with a friend,
James K. Bevans, whom she
would spend the next 20-some
wonderful, happy and loving
years. Their time together
was spent hunting, ¿shing,
gardening and an occasional
trip to the casino. Jim was
taken from her in
April of 2005.
Rosalie devel-
oped dementia and
after a few years
of being alone was
moved to Hermiston
to an assisted living
home. She loved
playing cards and
making necklaces
and earrings from
her 5,000 and some
beads.
Rosalie
will
dearly be missed and remain
in the hearts of her family
and many caring friends. A
Celebration of Life will be
held for Rosalie on Saturday,
April 23, 2016, at 2:00 p.m.
at the Crossroads Community
Church, 350 N. Sherman St.,
in Stan¿eld by Pastor Michael
Kinlock. Refreshments and
food will be served following
the service.
The family requests that
memorial contributions be
plants that can be placed in a
bedding area at Sun Terrace
Assisted Living Facility as
a tribute to Rosalie for all to
enjoy.
