Fido’s release is at hand. After going about
for several months with a birdcage over his
mouth, he is to be permitted to resume his
natural ways again. The council last night
repealed the muzzling ordinance which is
taken to mean that the danger from rabies is
believed to be over.

There was a hot mail delivery in the Long
Creek, Monument area yesterday, so hot in fact,
that a pickup load of mail burned up. Pendleton
postal inspector Dave Madden said he was

A new-generation weather forecasting
system will be on-line at the Pendleton
Airport by early 1996, along with 21 jobs.
Bob Farrell of the National Weather Service
recently outlined the timetable for several
improvements coming to the area. The
National Weather Service is in the midst of a
nationwide modernization project. A Weather

leased land at the airport in 1993, Farrell said.
By late 1992 or early 1993, the weather service
will install Automatic Surface Observing
stations at Pendleton, Baker and Hermiston.
The automated stations will provide data on
wind, temperature, dew point, air pressure,
sky conditions up to 12,000 feet, and visibility
up to 10 miles. They will also indicate current
weather conditions such as rain or snow.
