PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Umatilla County Historical Society carries out its mission through
a diverse program structure. It preserves history through its wide-rang-
ing collection of objects, photographs, documents, and memorabilia
refl ecting life throughout our region. It interprets the area’s history
through exhibitions, lectures, tours, and publications. Its major events
— Old Iron Show, Agricultural Heritage Tour, Heritage Luncheon,
and the Terrifi c Tuesdays presentation series — all focus on particular
aspects of life and history within our region, providing “hands-on”
experiences, in-depth studies, and behind-the-scenes understanding
and experiences.

VOLUNTEER
Volunteers help us to “Tell the Story”
at Heritage Station Museum. If you
enjoy meeting and working with
people, you might consider being a
greeter for our visitors, a docent, or
a museum store attendant. If you
prefer helping behind the scenes, we
have opportunities in clerical, collec-
tions, exhibits, events, fundraising,
marketing, and maintenance. Our
signature publication, Pioneer Trails,
is a good fi t for those interested in
research and writing. The Historical
Society’s Community Thrift Shop has
appeal for volunteers who love a
lively, busy work scene.
UCHS will be the leading steward of
regional heritage, addressing con-
temporary issues through historical
perspectives and keeping the past
present for the future.
Goals & Values:
It is the intent of UCHS to carry out
our mission according to standards
of excellence; to include all peoples
and histories in the region; to collab-
orate and partner to best serve our
membership and create a sense of
community across the region; and to
provide outreach and programming
that furthers our mission and vision.
