MONDAY
A Pendleton woman at 8:06 a.m. reported someone stole
the wheel and tire off her car on Southeast Seventh Street.
A man at 8:11 a.m. told Pendleton police a deaf male came
to his elderly mother’s home on Northwest Fifth Street and
asked for cans to recycle at 4 a.m.
A caller at 8:43 a.m. told Umatilla police a female was curled
up on the sidewalk at Pine Tree Avenue and Powerline Road,
Umatilla. The caller said she asked if the girl was OK, and she
nodded her head but did not move or speak.
A man in the Milton-Freewater area reported a woman is
constantly harassing him with calls and text messages, He said
one day he had 104 missed calls from her, and she has looked
into his windows and texts his new girlfriend. Even though he
has not responded to her calls or texts, he said, she has not
stopped.

a complaint about a resident on Northeast Ellis Place dumping
raw sewage on the property.
A Hermiston man at 10:03 a.m. reported the theft of
packages he had delivered to his old address, and the woman
who lives there signed for them but told him she did not.
The manager of the Shell station at 335 S.E. Court Ave.,
Pendleton, told police at 2:10 p.m. a customer tried to pass a
fraudulent $20 bill.
A woman at 3:47 p.m. told Pendleton police someone
snatched her purse from her hand while she was walking at
Shadeview Mobile Home & RV Park, 1437 S.W. 37th St.
A caller at 3:51 p.m. said she wanted to speak to a

back in February, then two days later returned it. The business
replaced it and now she is not happy with the replacement.
An Echo man at 4:22 p.m. reported a woman keeps
harassing him with calls and texts and is trying to break up his
marriage. Law enforcement contacted both parties and advised
them to not contact each other.
A Pendleton man at 5:46 p.m. reported someone broke into
his vehicle on Northwest Carden Avenue on Thanksgiving night
and stole his Glock handgun.
A Pendleton man suffered minor injuries when his car
crashed into a power pole near downtown Pendleton.
Pendleton police reported Daniel R. Caldwell, 59, was
going west on Southeast Court Avenue and started suffering
a coughing attack at about 5:50 p.m. The episode caused
Caldwell to take his eyes off the road, and his vehicle left the
QRUWKVLGHRIWKHVWUHHWDQGVWUXFNDSRZHUSROHDQGD¿UH
hydrant on the northwest corner of the intersection at Southeast
Court Avenue and Ninth Street, directly across from St. Mary’s
Catholic Church.
Caldwell had “apparent minor injuries,” according to
police, and a private vehicle took him to St. Anthony Hospital,
Pendleton. Police did not give Caldwell a citation.
A woman at 9:47 p.m. reported the theft of her car from
Marina Apartments, 1600 Second St., Umatilla.

An Oregon State Police trooper at 3:08 p.m. stopped a
maroon Ford F150 pickup for a violation at Southwest Emigrant
Avenue and 20th Street, Pendleton. Aaronessa Mariah Hayball,
32, of Pendleton, was behind the wheel and the trooper cited her
for driving with a suspended license.
The trooper then checked if the three passengers had
warrants and found two did — Brian Frank, 30, of Pendleton,
and Rechelle Sue Wilson, 23, also of Pendleton. The trooper
also arrested Wilson for possession and delivery of metham-
phetamine and possession of a controlled substance — psilo-
cybin mushrooms. Frank and Wilson ended up in the Umatilla
County Jail, Pendleton.
Hermiston police arrested Shay Jeffery Self, 25, of
Hermiston, for possession of heroin and third-degree theft.
Milton-Freewater police arrested Jeramie Lee Gillman,
37, of 300 N.W. Fifth Ave., Milton-Freewater, for identity theft,
second-degree theft, second-degree forgery and second-degree
possession of a forged instrument.

Harper Llewellyn Jones
passed away on November
26, 2015, from natural
causes.
He was born
on
March
8,
1925, in Great
Falls, Montana, to
William
Harper
Jones and Miriam
Callaway.
He
moved to Helena,
Montana, at an
early age and
graduated
from
Helena
High
School in 1943. He
was fond of telling
stories of growing
up in Helena and
recounting
the
mischief he and his
childhood friends
would cause.
He enlisted in
the Navy in 1943
in the V5 program.
He was to be
trained as a pilot
but the Navy even-
tually had other
needs for him. He
¿QLVKHG WKH ZDU
DVDÀHHWUDGLRPDQ Jones
in
Mississippi
and then was transferred to
Minneapolis,
Minnesota,
when it was discovered he
could type. He spent the
next year mustering men out
of the Navy and eventually
returned to Helena when he
was released from the Navy
in 1946. He returned to life in
Helena and using the GI Bill
he attended and graduated
from Carroll College with
a Bachelor of Arts degree in
biology and biochemistry.
While visiting with some
friends in Missoula he met a
young lady named Arleathe
/HD 0DULH =XHONH 7KH\
were married on October 11,
1952, in Helena.
Harper applied to the
Loyola Dental School in
Chicago and was accepted
for entrance in the fall of
1954. Graduating in 1958,
Harper and Lea returned
to Helena where Harper
worked as a dentist for the
next 8 years. Their three
children were born in
Helena.
Harper
decided
to
become an orthodontist,
which required 2 more
years of school and a move
to Wisconsin to attend
Marquette University. He
graduated in 1968 and
contemplated a move back
to Helena yet did not due
to potentially competing
with his Uncle Walter, also
an
orthodontist,
whom he admired.
A former dental
school classmate,
John
McBee,
contacted Harper
and the move to
Pendleton, Oregon,
followed. Harper
and Lea raised
their children in
Pendleton.
Over the years
Harper
served
the community in
many ways. He was
active in Kiwanis
and served as the
chairman of the
Airport Commis-
sion for years. He
was president of
the Oregon Pilot’s
Association local
chapter and profes-
sionally served as
president of the
Oregon Society of
Dentistry for Chil-
dren. He earned a
pilot’s license in
order to combat a fear of
À\LQJ WKDW KDG GHYHORSHG
RYHU WKH \HDUV +H ÀHZ DOO
over the Northwest with
his family and also would
ferry friends when the need
arose. He was an avid skier
throughout his life and
dearly loved traveling to
Hawaii with his family.
Harper is survived by
Lea, his wife of 63 years; a

63, of Hermiston died
November 26, 2015, at her
home. A Celebration of Life
service will be held at 10:00
a.m. on Saturday, December
5, 2015, at Pendleton
Pioneer Chapel, Folsom-
Bishop. Interment will
follow the service
at Olney Cemetery
in Pendleton.

In 1971, she grad-
uated from Pend-
leton High School.
She received an
associate’s degree Rueber
from Blue Moun-
tain Community
College and also from Mt.
Hood Community College
in Gresham.
She met Larry Rueber
when she was 10 years old
and they attended junior high
and high school together.
They started dating in 1975
and they were married a
year later on May 15, 1976,
at Peace Lutheran Church in
Pendleton, where they both
attended church. For her
¿UVW \HDUV RI PDUULDJH
she said her most enjoyable
thing was watching Larry
work. After she started
attending yard sales with
her friend Linda Stormet,
that became her enjoyment.
Larry must have slowed
down.
She worked for Good
Shepherd Hospital in Herm-
iston for many years. She
enjoyed bowling, gardening
and going to yard sales.
She also liked to travel. In
1999, they visited Germany,
Austria, Italy, Switzerland,
France and Belgium. They
also visited the Little Big
Horn, Mt. Rushmore and
many other places around
the U.S. She was a member
of the Lutheran Church and
Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She cherished her friends,
her sisters in sorority and her
good friend Mary Earlley.
She always looked on the
bright side of things and,
as Larry would say, “I was
blessed to call her
my wife.”
She is survived
by her husband
Larry
Rueber
of
Hermiston;
daughter Jennifer
Rueber of Herm-
iston;
grandson
Jaeger
Rueber;
brother Ed Sisk;
sister
Carol
Newton;
and
many nieces and
nephews. She was
preceded in death by her
parents; son Kenny Rueber;
twin brother Duane Sisk;
and nephew Matthew Sisk.

Arthur E. Beasley passed
away peacefully at his home
in Hermiston, Oregon, on
November 24, 2015, at the
age of 69 years after
declining
health.
He was born on
April 22, 1946, in
Greeley, Colorado,
to parents Charles
and Margaret Bliss
Beasley.
The family lived
in many places
when he was a
young child. His
grade school years
were spent in Moun-
tain Home, Idaho,
before moving to La
Grande, Oregon. He
attended junior high Beasley
and high school in
La Grande, Oregon,
graduating from La Grande
High School in 1964. Art
then attended Eastern Oregon
State College, graduating
in 1968 with a bachelor’s
degree in history. He enlisted
in the Oregon National Guard
in 1968 and served until his
honorable discharge in 1974.
Art moved to Pendleton,
Oregon, in 1972 and worked
at The New York Store and
Baer Mens Wear. During this
time he met his future wife
Gloria Green, and they were
married in 1973. Art went to
work at First Federal Savings
and Loan in Pendleton, Ore.,
and was later transferred to
Hermiston, Ore., as it became
Western Heritage Savings
and Loan. He later became
a realtor before working at
Pioneer Title and Escrow.
Art completed his working
career as a case manager for
the state of Oregon for 16
years before he retired due to
his health.
Art was a former member
and past president of the
Hermiston Rotary
Club. He was a man
who never knew a
stranger, had many,
many friends, and
always had a joke
or trivia to share
with anyone willing
to listen. Art loved
¿VKLQJ HVSHFLDOO\
for sturgeon) and
playing golf. He
loved animals and
cherished his little
Pet Rescue puppy,
Zoey.
He is survived
by his wife of
42 years, Gloria
Beasley,
Herm-
iston, Ore.; sisters Martha

water, Ore.; and numerous

Craig Jay Carney, a
lifelong Hermiston, Oregon,
resident, was born on
February 1, 1960, in Herm-
iston, Oregon, to parents Jay
Ben Carney and Doris Lee
Peckham Carney. He died
on November 25, 2015, in
Hermiston, Oregon, at the
age of 55 years.
Craig was raised
in
Hermiston,
Oregon, where he
enjoyed
playing
baseball in his
younger
years,
playing tennis in
junior high and
high school, and
was a devoted
KISS groupie. He
graduated
from Carney
Hermiston High
School in the class
of 1978. Craig went to work
at Marlette Homes right after
graduation where he has
continued to work for the
last 37 years.
He married Diane Davis
and they had 3 children,
Jason, Sarah, and Bret.
They
later
divorced,
although remaining close
and enjoying family gather-
ings and going to concerts
together. He was an avid
Dallas Cowboy fan from an
early age, remaining loyal
through thick and thin. Craig
cherished time with his
family, especially his grand-
children. He enjoyed riding

and all over town.
