Animal lovers team up to provide knee surgery for dog
By TAMMY MALGESINI
East Oregonian
A Pendleton woman
who has dedicated her life
to helping animals is now
asking the community for
help with her dog.
Crystal
Sullenger,
manager of Pendleton Animal
Welfare Shelter, announced
plans for an indoor yard sale
fundraiser. Proceeds from the
event will go towards Tibial
Plateau Leveling Osteotomy
— a type of knee surgery
for dogs — for Starlet, a
2-year-old pit bull.
The dog, which Sullenger
has had since she was
rescued at four weeks old in
Redmond, tumbled down a
hill while playing.
“I don’t know if she
landed wrong or stum-
bled,” Sullenger said. “She
completely blew out her
meniscus.”
The
animal
welfare
community has reached out
to help Sullenger and Starlet.
