On Aug. 21, 2015, the
Stan¿ eld Community
Center held a bene¿ t
spaghetti fundraiser and
dessert auction to help on
of our residents, Betty Bell
with the purchase of a new
(but used) car.
July 19, Betty was
in a life-threatening car
accident that has left her
in a rehabilitation facility
for at least three months
mending form three
ruptured vertebrae and
three surgeries on her right
leg.
Family and friends want
to say a huge thank you to
everyone that turned out
and gave so freely. The
dessert auction itself was
phenomenal.
She is well on her way
to replacing her car and
says her heart is bursting
with thanks and gratitude
to all of those that have
donated.
This truly shows our
community spirit of those
in need.

Blood donor giving hits 24-gallon mark
Ronita M. Jones recently
met the 24-gallon mark in
donating blood to the Amer-
ican Red Cross.
This is a result of 192
donations over at least 48
years. This is true service to
her community, said Patti
Perkins. Each donation can
help as many as three people.
The recent blood drive for
the Hermiston community
was held Aug. 17 at Good
Shepherd Medical Center.
The goal was 48 units from 61
appointments. However, due
to a high number of deferrals
and missed appointments,
only 34 units were collected
from 42 donors. As always
great appreciation is felt for
those who donate.
The canteen was run
by Altrusa International
of Hermiston. The drives
would not be so successful
and well attended without
our service groups and egg
salad sandwiches, Perkins
said.
For more information
about upcoming blood
drives, call 800-733-2767
or visit www.redcrossblood.

I have thoroughly
enjoyed my counseling
practice in Pendleton. Soon
my husband, Jim Hanks,
and I will move out of state
to a warmer climate, but I
want the people of Pend-
leton and the surrounding
area to know how much
I have appreciated their
support.
In my six years here,
I have met so many
wonderful residents,
including my many clients.
My clients have been
mailed letters about my
move, but I also want
the rest of the people in
Pendleton and this area
to know I will miss them,
and my time here will be a
pleasant memory.
It has been a great town
in which to do business!

Always on my mind.
Forever in my heart.
My name is Brodie, and although not much is
known about me and my background, what we
do know is that I LOVE to play ball. I have a
very calm demeanor - but I tend to get a little
excited when I see the leash come out! I love
giving and getting loves, lots of loves. Ball,
anyone?
