The situation now is under investigation. •A caller at noon reported a “beautiful little poodle with [a] decorated collar” was running in the street at Northwest Baltimore and Gale streets, Heppner. •A Pendleton woman at 12:44 p.m. reported her ex-boyfriend keeps showing up at her residence. •An employee of Pendleton Southgate Realty, 1803 S.W. Emigrant Ave., Pendleton, told police a female in front of the building was trying to hot wire a car. There was no indica- tion if this was connected to anyone who ran from the crash scene Thursday afternoon on Interstate 84 near milepost 209, Pendleton. •A Pendleton resident at 4:02 p.m. on the 2700 block of Northeast Riverside Avenue reported he had problems with the neighbor’s rooster crowing. •A caller with Great Paci¿c Wine & Coffee Co., 403 S. Main St., Pendleton, reported the theft of 13 bales of hay from the beer garden area. •An employee of the Tillicum Inn, Umatilla, •A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy at 1:24 a.m. reported hearing possible gunshots near A.C. Houghton Elementary School, 1105 N. Main St., Irrigon. Turned out it was a power transformer (no, not the movie robot kind). •Someone egged a duplex on Northwest 12th Street, Pendleton, a caller reported at 8:55 a.m., and the mischief damaged a vent at the top of the residence. •Pendleton police at 8:59 a.m. received a report of a woman “screaming something about attempted murder and other things that aren’t making sense” in the parking lot at AC Mini Storage & RV Park, 2255 S.E. Court Ave., Pendleton. •A Hermiston-area caller at 10:28 a.m. asked for advice dealing with a group of people who were harassing with calls and texts. •A caller at 11:23 a.m. told Umatilla police a co-worker at McNary Dam, Umatilla, has verbally harassed her for months. Man accused of ¿ULQJJXQQHDU soccer game SALEM (AP) — Oregon consumer of¿cials are warning the public about a Sisters woman who allegedly defrauded investors of $700,000 through fake business ventures. The Bend Bulletin reports a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services says the agency wants to make sure Rebecca Ellen Castle isn’t collecting money from investors. According to a news release issued Thursday, the agency has imposed a $10,000 ¿ne against Castle, who has a warrant out for her arrest. Of¿cials say Castle created several companies between 2005 and 2011, raising about $700,000 from at least 12 investors. Her business ventures ranged from feature ¿lm projects to the marketing of exercise equipment and suntan lotion to gold and silver mining operations. The investors allegedly never received a pro¿t or return on their investment. NEWBERG (AP) — Police arrested a man accused of ¿ring a gun near the Newberg High School athletic ¿eld. There were no injuries, but the Thursday night gun¿re disrupted a soccer match between girls from Newberg and Centennial high schools. The Newberg-Dundee Police Department said early Friday that 53-year-old Steven Smith was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, unlawful use of a weapon and recklessly endangering another person. Smith, who lives near the ¿eld, was being on bail of $32,500. The shot were ¿red shortly after 8 p.m. School administrators stopped the game and moved the players and fans into a gymnasium. PORTLAND (AP) — A Marion County judge has asked his clerks to refer couples seeking same-sex marriages to other county judges. Judge Vance Day, a former chairman of the Oregon Republican Party, is now facing an ethics investigation as a result of that decision. Spokesman Patrick Korten says Day asked his staff to send same-sex couples elsewhere due to his religious beliefs. On Thursday, the Oregon Government Ethics Commission gave Day permission to create a legal defense fund for himself in order to cover such expenses he expects to incur during the investigation. Day joined the bench in 2011 and has not performed any same-sex marriages. He stopped doing marriages of any kind this past spring. Floyd Prozanski say they have gathered suf¿cient signatures to potentially spark a vote. The Register-Guard reports chief petitioner Patricia Duffy-Michaelson says she submitted about 8,700 signatures and plans to send in another batch by Friday’s deadline. The campaign requires a total of 8,415 valid signatures to secure a recall vote. But the petitioners haven’t earned a victory yet as the signatures still need to be veri¿ed. The caller had no more details and said the manager wanted her to call. •A Pendleton resident on Southeast Court Place at 10:44 p.m. told police someone “has been messing with his dog,” a Siberian husky. Some fed the dog several treats, let him off the leash, removed his tags and destroyed his harness. That allowed the dog to escape after 2 p.m., but his wife found the dog, and it was again home. •An Athena resident at 11:34 p.m. reported someone tried to open his front door on West Gar¿eld Street, but when the dogs barked the prowler ran.
