The team will film episodes of their hit series “American Pickers” in Oregon in September. “American Pickers” is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique ‘picking’ on the History channel. This hit show follows two of the most skilled pickers in the business, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, as they embark on an epic road trip across the U.S. in search of America’s most valuable antiques from motorcycles, classic cars, and bicycles, to one- of-a-kind vintage memorabilia. Mike and Frank are on a mission to recycle America, restore forgotten relics to their former glory, and learn a thing or two about American history along the way. They are looking for leads and would love to explore what you may have. They are on the hunt for interesting characters with interesting and unique items.  They are looking for vintage bicycles, toys, unusual radios, movie memorabilia, advertising, military items, folk art, vintage musical equipment, vintage automotive items, early firefighting equipment, vintage clothing, pre-50’s western gear, etc.  If you have a large collection or want to refer someone to Mike and Frank, email your name, phone number, address, and description of the collection and photos to: americanpickers@cineflix.com or call 855-old- rust. The show is produced by Cineflix Productions for History and airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET. MUSIC IN THE PARKS SEASON ENDS! Very few of those who attend events like these - the parades, runs/walks, etc. have any idea how just a handful of dedicated volunteers spend weeks planning, coordinating, fretting and worrying, that everything will come together and work out all right for everyone! There are meetings, phone calls to make, mailings to do, and lots of list T-SHIRTS checking JULY to make 4TH sure that every aspect of the If you missed the chance to get your very details own July 4th activities are covered. Many of those volunteers start physically working the night before, setting out signage, especially for runs/walks. Then those same volunteers are often up at the crack of dawn and down at the run/walk registration the next morning. Some then have to rush over to help with the parade, others head over to a park to help vendors get set up for the event. Many of them are on the go all day long, and by the time the fireworks are over that night, they are really tired! If you know one of these volunteers, please join me in thanking them for their commitment to their communities! These events would not happen without them! And, when you see a request to volunteer to help with an event in your community, please consider lightening their load by getting involved. THEY NEED YOUR HELP if you want to see events like this continue and grow! Please join me in thanking all the businesses, organizations, volunteers, etc. that helped make all of our area’s July 4th celebrations memorable! Emily L.
