The Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington is seeking new girls and volunteers interested in joining Girl Scouts. According to Sarah Miller, director of communications, research shows opportunities offered by the largest girl-led organization in the world posi- tively impact all aspects of girls’ lives. Girl Scouts is unique because girls get to learn by doing, and they do so in a girl-led environment. In addition to learning in a hands-on and active way, Girl Scouts are encouraged to choose activities, decide which topics they want to explore, and determine how they want to go about exploring them. While Girl Scouts is open to all girls from kindergarten through 12th grade, anyone over the age of 18 can become a Girl Scout volun- teer. Girls can’t experience the positive impact of Girl Scouts without adult volunteers. Each adult who volunteers has the opportunity to make a real difference in the life of a girl. To join Girl Scouts or learn more about volunteering, contact Sarah Miller at 503-977- 6861, smiller@girlscoutsosw.org or visit www.girlscouts.org/join.
