Papa” Smith, 80, of Island
City passed away on Sunday,
August 2, 2015, at his resi-
dence. A casual dress grave-
side service will be
held at the Summer-
ville Cemetery on
Saturday, August
8th at 2:00 p.m.
LeRoy was born
July 9, 1935, in
Elk Point, South
Dakota, to Ralph
C. and Evelyn M.
(Billings) Smith.
He resided in
S u m m e r v i l l e , Smith
Ore., for 51 years.
LeRoy attended Bannings
High School in Wilmington,
California. He married Betty
Jean Morrow on April 30,
1954. They were together for
61 years.
LeRoy was employed
with the Union Paci¿c
Railroad for 33 years. He
enjoyed hunting, ¿shing,
golf, and B.S., loved to do
bingo calling at Odd Fellows
Lodge Hall in Summerville.
He was famous for his
smoked ¿sh recipe, he loved
bowling and keeping up with
all his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
He was a life member
of the Odd Fellows Lodge
#49 and was a Past Noble
Grand and was active in the
Christmas Basket Program.
He was past president of La
Grande County Club, a past
Master Lifetime Member of
Masonic Lodge #67 in Elgin,
Walla Walla

Mr. Clore then moved to
Alaska where he worked
until WWII. He joined the
U.S. Army Air Corps. He
married Ruth Gayman in
1944 and she preceded him
in death.
