Memorial Day was originally a day to honor
the nation’s Civil War dead by decorating
their graves.
It had a different name to begin with. To find out
what Memorial Day was originally called, circle

The USS Arizona Memorial is the final
resting place for many of the ship’s 1,177
crewmen who lost their lives on Dec. 7,

the water’s surface. The names of those
killed are engraved on a marble wall.
