Klias Tolstoi, a ttrandson of the fam

here after a Journey through China
and Japan, having escaped from the
llolsheviki. In I Din, after three days
of married life he had to flee from
Moscow because he "was condemned to
death and now he is in ignorance as to
whether his hride Is dead or alive.
He joined Admiral Kolchnk's forces
and fntiKhl anainst the Kolshevlki,
was stricken with typhus on three oc
casions and was nursed in the Ameri
can hospital at Omsk.
He said that his aunt, Catherine, Is
In prison at Moscow nnd another aunt,
Tatiana, Is a servant of a Bolshevik
family.
Tolstoi predicts the sure and inevit
able death of ISolshevism either
thrniiRh demobilization or starvation
of the army. The rations of the .sol-
diets, he said, have been reduced to a
quarter of a pound of bread and one
eiKhth of a sausr.Re. He added that
