erican Federation of I.ubor proposrs

gress." This was the message sent
the senate finance committee by
Samuel Gompers, president of the
federation. It was delivered by Ed
ward F. McGrady. legislative repre
sentative of the federation.
PLAN BIG CELEBRATION
One of the greatest celebrations evr
held in the city of Portland will be
staged on June Uth, the day following
the Kose Festival under the auspices
of the American Legion. On thnt day
the ex-service men are to stage a
monster "Head On-- collision at the J
Portland Race Track. Two passenger
type locomotives will be sent to des
truction on a specially constructed1
track far nut In the field hut in full
view of the grandstand. This stunt
Is conceded to be the most sensational
spectacle ever witnessed.
Other attractions to fill out an en
tire afternoon- entertainment will be
Auto and Motorcycle races, and a Fat
Man's Ford Itace.
The program promises to be the
most elaborate of its kinj ever plan
ned In Oregon.
There will be special rates on all
railroads and arrangements are being
made to take care of 60,000 people.
