CHICAGO, April CO. (A. F.I
P'aarply higher prices for wheat yes
terday resulted, from general buying,
based largely on the scantiness of tht
stock here availi.bl for delivery on
contracts. The market closed unset
tled at I14 Jo 3'.c net advance, with
May 1.3014 to 1.3t)i.4 and July 1.0'i
to 1.07 U. Corn finished at 5-8 to 7-Sc
decline and oats 3-Sc off to 1-8 U up.
In provision:! the outcome wr'.s an ad
vance of more than five cents s com
pared with yesterday's choice. This
upturn carried the market to a point
to where Xo. 3 northern in other pri
mary centers could be shipped here at
a profit. It was noticeable too that
rural offerings had increased on the
! advance. Something of a reaeiion fol-
j lowed but sentiment continued hellish
owing moro or less to frost damage re-
' ports from Western Kansas and to
predictions of fro.vt in the central west
last night. Be-.ii'es .Misso ui advices

however, a sag took place in the ab

There is something really unusual bout
the sweet running qualities of the LALLnY
LIGHT. It operates so quietly, so smoothly,
. and so freely that it attracts you to it by
the absence of noise.
This feature in itself proves that the
LALLEY LIGHT i3 a finely constructed
piece of mechanism
It proves its simplicity and frtiedom from numerous
and conipii'-incd parts.
It proves that greatest care .ind exactness in the
election, terting and littina of the materials and part
liave been used.
It proves that the LALLiiV operates as newly
frictionless as it is humanly possible to build t plant
of this kind. .
And besides the mechanical advantages, indicated
by the quietness of the LALLEY LIGHT, the sa:.fac.

is important. '

rlradstreet's says:
While the volume of trade is little
different from last week in most sec
tions, gains being noted over March,
but decreases still recorded as com
pared with April last year at most
centers, and collections still drag, the
Industrial peace seems somewhat bet
ter and an undeniably more optimistic
feeling is voiced in most reports. In
fact, the developments of the week
nave been mainly on the favorable
d.cie. These latter include a continu
ance of reports th.-.a spring trado has
turned out better than earlier expected,
a more confident run of preductions
as to fall trade prospects, a faster pace
revealed in outputs of shoes, leather,
bituminous coal, crude petroleum,
automobiles, a decrease in the number
of idle cars and reports of better load
ings on the railways generally, better
net earnings reports for March than
for many preceding months on a num
iier of railways, an improved tone
manifested In iron and steel, based
largely on better taxing of material
by tile automobile and oil trades.
