Frost IKies Damage
The frost of last Friday night did
considerable damage to the cherry
crop along the State Line. Fruit men
estimate that the entire crop of Tar
tartan chorries have been wiped out
and the Bings, Lamberts and Black
Republican, thtnned materially. The
friwt confined its damage to that strip
of land along the State Line that In
years gone by haK been hit before, and
did not hit Fruitvale. N'o damage was
done to the rest of the fruit however.
The east side of the river which is
sometimes hit by the frost was not
touched and no damage was done
around Freewater or in the Ferndale
or Sunnyside country. The express
houses and the Fruit houses are begin
ning to ship out asparagus.

The I'matiila National Forest range
is In excellent condition, according to
officials in -the forest office here. The
frequent rains and mild weather have
boen very favorable to the growth of
grass and stockmen are rejoicing at
the prospect of a plentiful and lasting
supply.
Little Xicht Plowing
Because of wet weather, there hns
been very little night plowing dene
this year, says James Hill, I'matiila
county wheat farmer. Last year, farm
ers ran tractors at night but this year
the weather has not permitted the
time saving. Never in Mr. Hill's opin
ion, has plowing advanced so "rapidly
as It has this season.
