guests of the Pendleton order tomor
row at the unnual district convention
to be held In the I. O. O. F. hall. He
lix lodge will assist Pendleton lodge
nnd the Stanflcld degree staff will put
on the lodge work in the evening. The
usual 'business session will tuke pluce
lit the day time. The convention be
gins at 10 a. m. and all officers of the
local lodge have been urged to attend.
Of the ten Rebckah lodges In the
county, Freewatcr will send the larg
est delegation as six members will lie
here for tho convention. It Is prob.
able that the state president, Miss
Ethel Fletcher, will bo here. Mrs.
Frank Whetstone, of this city, vice
president, wtll attend.
FIRST JMEETIXC. 'TOMORROW,'
The Woman's Missionary Society of
the Presbyterian church will hold the
first meeting of the church year to
morrow at 2:30 p. m. in the recep
tion rooms of the church. As this it
Holy Week the members hope that
the meeting will be especially heplful
and profitable and hope for a large
attendance. The officers of the mis
sionary society will be hostesses.

Miss Helen Koch, who has been at
tending Whitman Colloge, arrlvud
home last evening to spend her Eastei
vacation. The Girls' Glee Club .ol
Whitman College of which Miss Koch
is a member, will make its first ap

SEAPLANE LANDS LOW
TWO MEN ARE KILLED
WEST PALM REACH. Fla.. March
22. IX. P. I Attempting a landing
from too low an altitude. Lee Rothert
of this city, and J. H. Farrington of
Newport, Ky., were killed yesterday.
Their seaplane struck the earth with
in 20 feet of the water and safety.
Rothert who was driving the plane,
became confused and lost control of
the machine, according to witnesses.

step In the further progress toward a
pre-war price level. Tho decline will
be passed on to the "consumer by the
retail grocer, and the new retail price,
as announced by local dealers, will be
110.60 a barrel Instead of $11.00.
The cut, which wns due to the severe
decline in the wheat market during
the past two weeks, will not result In
cheaper bread, in the opinion of local
grocers. When flour, some months
ago, dropped from $S.75 a sack to
12.75, It did not result In cheaper
bread. .
