There have been no epidemics during the winter and the sick llBt has ot been large. Some few cases of chicken pox have been found among children during the past few weeks. Ishuo Few Permits. There were only 20 building permits Issued during the month of February, according to the city recorder's office and of these none were for the erec tion or construction of new buildings. All were for repairs or reconstruction with the cost varying from $10 to 25UO. ItainruU Kxoccds Normal. . The rainfall for February was 3.17 which greatly exceeds the normal of 1.47. The warmest da", according to Major Lee Moorhouse's official report for the month, was February 13 when the mercury went to 89. The lowest temperature was on February 17 and 18 when the thermometer registered 19. Nine days were partly cloudy nd four cloudy. The snowfall was five and a half Inches. Pythlans Hold Contest. The Pendleton Knights of Pythias degree tenm won In their contest last night over Weston when they met in the local lodge hall to demonstrate their ability in conferring the rank of knight. Violators of the law appearing in the city police court have shown an increase with each succeeding year, according to figures secured from the city recorder's office. February of 1921 had the largest number on the docket of the last six years when 46 violators appeared to answer charges. However, the ever presence of moon shindand contraband liquors had lit tle to do with the , increase because most of the violations were of the traf fic laws of the state. The activities of State Officer Saltzman during the latter days of the month had a great deal to do with the Increase. The preceding month of January had 26 law violators before the court Dur ing the month of "February, 1900, there were 25 cases before the court, while in the year 1919 there were 14.
