KCHO, Feb. -26. Mrs. R. n. man
field was the charming hostess for a
silver tea given at her home Tues
day afternoon, for the benefit of the
ladies Episcopal Guild. Mrs. Asa D.
Thomson and Mm. Thomas Rosa as
sisted with the pouring of the tea.
The house was beautifully decorated
with carnations and dafodlls. The
afternoon was spent In games and
music several Instrumental selections
being rendered by Mrs. Hawlcy Bean
and Miss Marion George. About 30
ladles were present at the tea.
George CoDPlngcr, well-known and
prominent wheat farmer east of Echo
was called to his home in Seattle Mon
day evening, by the Illness of his wife.
Carl Gilbert was a business visitor
in Pendleton Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. John Schmlt are here
from the valley visiting at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles l,isle. They
formerly lived at Echo before moving
to the valley, and they state that they
expect to locate near Hermlston.
Mrs. Jay Pelmulder of Walla Walla
J Is here visiting her husband, who Is

J. C. Wattenburger of Portland left
Tuesday evening for Weiser, Idaho, to
confer with R. N. Stanficld. He was
accompanied to Weiser by Hugh Stan
field, R. R. Stanficld, Asa H. Thom
son and Don Prultt.
Vic Martin of Stanficld was an Echo
visitor Tuesday.
Homer Hedricks of Pendleton was.

William Benedict and Jake Ruber
met with a slight misfortune Tuesday
evening, when their cars collided on
the highway near Stanfleld. The two
cars were each somewhat damaged
but none of the occupants were In

were in the car with Mr. Benedict.
