Native Of Missouri
I. M. Schannep was born near Ver
sailles. Morgan County, Missouri, Oct.
15. 1877, His father, was bnrn In
Ohio and his mother, Catherine Ly
nch, was born In Wilmington, Dela
ware. He was next to the youngest of
10 children.
Ho became Interested In politics
and was secretary of the Republican
County Committee of Morgan County,
Missouri for several years.
Judge fchnnnep. was admitted to
the bar In April, l0 and has prac
ticed continuously since, most of the
time In VeTsnlllea, Missouri. In 1913
the family removed to San Diego,
Cal.. There they remained only one
yearv They came to Pendleton in Oct.
1915 and to Flint Hock In January.
1916, where Judge Schannep has since
pratlced law.
Ho was county treasurer of Mor
gan County, Missouri, for a term,
upon completion of which he was ap
pointed by Ex-Governor Herbert S.
Hudley, as probate and Juvenile judge.
Ho served two years of an unexpired
term Just prior to coming West. When
he first came to Pendleton he had of
fices with Judge S. A. Lowell.

H. E. Bean is Just 4 4 years of ago
today, having first seen the light of
day, Jan. 1, 1S76, nt Virgil City, Mo.
Ho did not, like his colleague. Judge
Schannep, grow up a Mlssourlnn, but
when two years old went with his par
ents to lTnlonvlle, Mich. The died
when Mr. Bean was but three years
old and one of a family of 11 child
ren, His mother kept the family together
and not until he was IS years old did
he leave home. Ho did this to earn
his way through a telegraphy school
at Janesvllle Wis. He had been pro
vided by his widowed mother with a
good common school education and he
fitted himself to be an operator.
Mr. Bean followed railroad work
for several years, first with the Chi
cago and Northwestern nt Belle Tlalne
Wlndon nnd Elmore, Minn., and Cht
ppewa Falls, Wis. For nine years he
was station af,ent on the Great North
ern on the Duluth division and ter
minal operator on the'Northern Paci
fic nt Glendlve, Mont.

the old O. U. & N. us agent at East
Portland. Km was transferred to Mil
ton as agent In 1903 and from there
