definitely. A few days ago a tourist
front has just been given by the mili
tary authorities of the Fort Vaux at
Verdun which has hitherto been open
to vislttors to Verdun. The authori
ties have derided to close the fort In
rcflnltely. . A few lays ago a tourist
took possession, bnulitless as a sou
venir, of an electric lamp bulb. He
was Indiscreet enough to make a
flunrlsh of the bulb In a Verdun cafe.
The military authorities confiscated
the bulb and then enme the order
making the fort "out-of-bounds'' to
visitors.

the country December 5 to 11. Com

officers of the state to take such ac
tion as may be necessary to cause the
people to use this week in such a way
as It will most effectively disseminate
information in regard to the conditions
and needs of the schools.

triotic and civic societies are request
ed to devote one meeting to a discus

states. The ministers also are asked

Friday afternoon and 'evening of
school week has teen designated as
the date on which community meet
ings in the Interests of education
should be held in all school houses,
both in the city and country, for the
purpose of discussing the needs of the
schools, the means of meeting these
needs and remedying conditions.

marriage licenses at the registrars of
fice now arc handed a special bulle
tin of the Imperial Hoard of Health
urging them to consult a physician
and obtain a clean bill of health be
fore marrying. The bulletin gives
warning that a man or woman who,
despite- the doctor's" warning, enters
wedlock commits a grave offense. The
Imperial code also provides for the
annulment of the marriage if one of
the contracting parties knowingly
conceals a condition on health which
otherwise would prevent the union.
The bulletin is the result of con
certed action on' the part of German
physicians.
