FIGHTINQ FOR CAMERA
GREAT FALLS, Mont, Oct. 20 (A.
T.) -Wackfoot Indians of Montana
recently refused to fight as "supers;
for a moving picture for teas than un
ion pay. As a result, a California pic
ture company, which wanted the In--dians
to appear before the camera,
. moved on to the Crow Reservation of
eastern Montana whore It was thought
Indians could be obtained for lower
pay. - : - '
Sixty, principals and a trainload of
equipment were brought to Browning,
JtlunU, . by . the California people and
crack riders came from Great Falls,
Havre, Fort Benton and other points
to .dash before the click ng camera as
cavalrymen, pioneers and other char
acters of the picture, which was to tell
a story of Indian fighting In the early
days.
Word also was sent to the Flatheads,
Roy Chlppawas, North Plgcana and
Bipods of Canada, nil Indian tribes,
that l.EOO Indians were wanted. When
the Indians were told they were to get
half the pay the while men received,
they refused, almost uiuuilmoutisly to
appear.
