Doubtful States, White Wo men Are for Cox. BT LOOTS SETOOLD.) .m.M,nisLU, III., Oct. is. The race pro Diem in rndiana as in Ken lucky and Tennessee Is proving i rource or anxiety to the democratic eaaers. The republican leaders frankly hops the negro vote will con trol me decision in not only Kentucky ln.ll...... w - . ' i.-ouri ana Ohio, but in rnessee. in Kentucky the republi cans are making- an Intensive effort to line up every colored voter, man and women. Poll in Vojtro Shops. At Louisville, which is republican, most of the polling- places, even in the more exclusive residential districts, have teen established in barber shops, j wpenuea, Dy colored men, a circum stance that is proving most offensive to white voters indexed as democrats. Louisville itself shows n w, of f 000 In the republican vote. On the other hand, the registration In fifty-one other Kentucky towns show a democratic majority of 4000 in the aggregate. The white women are ciaimea to be overwhelmingly for Cox. There is reason to accept as correct the statement of the democratic man agers that the Hearst machine is spending; a great deal in "getting out the colored vote." Hearst himself Is confident that he will carry the state for Harding by at least 25.900. or 15.000 less than the majority for .morrow last year. The democratic leaders express confidence that "the wnoie woman vote will give Kentucky by at least 20,000." GREETINGS, PETE! ;.! - ,f" J. CAMEL CITY U. S. A. (or, Winst6n-Sa)em, N. C, according to the map) , Here I am tonight in Winston Salem where more tobacco is manufactured than ' in any other place on the face of the earth! , When I knocked off for the day, I buzzed ' around like a hungry bee in a buckwheat . field up and down long street: of R. J, I'-'' Reynolds Tobacco Co. factories! ;.: . , . As the Reynolds enterprise proved out more and more gigantic and I talked with ' " more men about it, I got the real and true 7 -n. answer as to why Camels are so eood and ' entirely different from any other cigai ettel I'll spin it for you, old top listen: , .' Every man I talked with made the' one big point that the officials and the more than 350 Reynolds foremen have an inborn knowledge of the tobacco business; that (putting it into a North Carolina expres sion) they were virtually "born and raised in a tobacco patch"; that they know to- " 6""K ii, menu it, ana now to manufacture and sell it! - And, what's most important of all, Pete these Reynolds lolks mire give men what they want the best that can be produced! Why Peter, it took months to perfect Camels Turkish and Domestic blend and that refreshing flavor and wonderful mild, mellow body! . Tomorrow, I'm going to meet some of the Reynolds folks. Got to see insii factories! 'And, you know me! SATURDAY DAY WHEN CENTRALIA CITIZENS WERE TO FACE DOOM CENTRALIA, Wash., Oct IS. Sat urday -was the day when, according to a threatening letter which was receiv ed here a month ago, many citizens of Centralia are to die. The letter, which was signed by ine Kerenge Committee" of MH- wauKee, wis., stated that "24 of us radicals are going to Centralia direct from Milwaukee, and we are going to get revenge on the lumber trust. We will shoot down every man who has taken an active part in that raid in 191S." The letter stated that four of the "raiders" on the I. W. W. hall in Cen tralia Armistice day, 1919. were kill ed, but stated that four wasn't enough; that all members of the American Le gion and business men, who had any thing to do with the "raid," should have been killed. t So the "radicals" In Milwaukee stated they would come to Centralia to kill a number of marked men. The letter stated the members of the ''com mittee ".'RUflk proposed Invasion much thought and had secretly stored arms and ammu nition in Butte. Six men were named as some of the Legionnaires and business men who would be killed today. The letter has not been taken very Seriously here, and the "marked men" are proceed ing atout the city very cautiously, giv ing every suspicious looking stranger more than a cursory once-over.
