J. H. McLachlen. of La Grande, who
was at the head of the posse that cap
tured the two men In a sheep camp in
the mountains near Summerville, told
of the capture and the conduct of the
men to the jail at La Grande, follow
ing it with the delivery of them to
officers from here. After he was
heard the state rested its case.
Floyd Henderson was called to the
stand by the defense to tell of the oc
currences In the Jail on the night of
the capture but was not given a
chance to testify because of the dis
trict attorney's motion. He was to be
called again this afternoon.

fense this afternoon and also R. W
Fletcher of the grand Jury, whose
story has been one of the big points
for the state, J. A. Schmidt, also a
member of the grand Jury, was called
