Columbia Basin Trip Coming
Invitations have been received by
the editorial department of the East
Oreg-onlan to be represented on a tour
of the Columbia, Basin project on July
8, g and 10, under the ausploea of the
Spokane Chamber of Commerce. The
trip will Include Qulnoy, Bphrata, Soap
Lake, Othello, Cunningham, raaco
and Yakima,. The tour ends at Yaki
ma on Saturday, July 10. The lower
end of this project is about Pasco,

Police Court Collects $114.

collected, In fines and forfeitures,
$414. There were 4$ cases before the
court, of which 23 were for violations
of the traffic code and 24 for viola
tions of the drunk and disorderly
ordinance. One was for running over
a nre hono and the other for illegal
possession of liquor.

Police Committee Gives Consent
The police committee of the city
Council today gave its approval to the
petition of the Central Labor Council
for a permit to hold a .carnival here

tingent, however, upon the show's

tho right to eliminate any feature of
the carnival which might be construea

minority vote against granting the
concession.

The Warren Construction Company
Is' concentrating its labor on the Athena-Stilton
road, which is a 12 mile
project. The work goes on for three
days a week, full time being impos
eibis at nresent because of a shortage
of rock. iS'ext week, however, the
quarry at Blue Mountain will supply
sufficient rock for daily work. Two
cars of crushing equipment are now
on the nay here and will be installed
near Weston, in addition to the crush
er ttt Hlue Mountain and Athena. Hy
tomorrow the final work on tho Adams-Athena
stretch will bo finished,
but the short detour at Adams will be
necessary because tbe bridge is not
yet completed. By September 1 the
construction company expects to have
finished its work In the county, with
the exceplion of five miles between
HHie Mountain and Weston, which is
pot to be paved for a time,
