The crowd at Boardman yesterday
was made up of people from an far
west as Arlington and east as far as
Pendleton. Hundreds were in attend
ance from Heppner and other points
In Morrow courtly and likewise from
the west end section of Umatilla coun
ty. Hcrmiston and Heppncr wcro
both represented by boys' bands.
At noon a barbacue was served
cafeteria style and the rush for food
resulted In a human Jam rivalling a
Happy Canyon crowd trying to get in
to the pavilion during the Round-L'p.
All were well cared for, however, and
I many compliments were paid to ti .H.

. lead in the affair. The scene of tnc
celeratlon was the Broadview ranch,
I near the edge of the project and new-
ly cut alfalfa was used to provide cov
ering for a grand stand, a speakers'
stand, the cafeteria and for numerous
booths about the ground.
C. C. Clark of Arlington, who pre
sided during the program, deelared
the chief purpose of the gathering wai
to arouse more popular Interest in the
project with a view to scouring action
by the federal government Among
