officials, thus making it easier to se

been cast for delegates favoring my
nomination. "With a group of amateur
clubs only among the fold, they were,
of course, handicapped In opposing a

real situation is that the people of

the senator for his able rescue of the
state during his governorship from vi
cious corporation control and his too
narrow vision of our international af
fairs. The fact that in these circum

turns from every county In the state
show that Johnson has 293, 885 votes
and Hoover 158.8 90. The voters did
not take the trouble to scratch the
ballots, so Johnson will have a. com
plete set of 26 California delegates at
the Chicago convention.
Johnson carried northern cities by
majorities of two, three and even four
to one. Hoover apparently carried
Kings and Ventura counties by small
majorities, but his vote In southern
California was by no means as large
as his managers expected.
Late returns indicate that Johnson
won in Los Angeles county. He Is
now leading there by 4150. votes.
Claim Record Victory.
A statement from Johnson heod

victory is the "greatest triumph In
California politics." "He has defeated
Hoover by over 100.000. more than he
ever defeated any other man who op
