cattle alleys at North Portland tor the
Friday morning trade, nothing was
wanted by killers. The situation here
at the moment indicates nothing but
extreme dullness and it is q.iite prob
able that arrivals would sell at lower
figures.

MF.DFOnD. Feb. 21. A fund of
150 for the relief of Harold F. Howell,
the 16-year-old Pandon youth whose
third trial for the murder of Lillian
Dethold takes place February 23, was
started here Friday by 50 representa
tive citizens whose interest was
aroused through press reports that the
yuuns man's father is without funds
to carry on his son's defense.
Attached to the draft mailed today
was the notice "From 50 good fellows
in Meuford who want you to get a
square deal."
