Snow of the Season

QURDANE. Nov. 20. A light snow
fell Thursday night but only to last
a few hours Friday morning, going- off
with a hard wind and turning; colder.
Frank Jones passed here Friday
from Uklah to his Spring- Hollow
ranch, staying- Thursday night at
Vern Catea. ,. yv
John Roes took Bun Moore, wife
and daughter, Maxtne, to Pilot Rock
Tuesday evening, where she has been
at Grace hospital under the doctor's
care, and is at present improving
slowly.
Guy French made a business trip to
Pilot Rock Thursday.
Tom Enright received a card from
his brother Jim that he had landed
safely in France. This is the first
news received from him since he left.
Frank Jones and Ed Campbell sold
a bunch ot 1600 lambs which they
started with Friday. They are deliv
ered at Pine City.
D. O. Northup made a business
trip to Pilot Rock last week.
Bun Moore's children were all on
the sick list last week. Bun taking
the youngest boy, Ralph, to Pilot
Rock Friday evening to the hospital.
There are two of his children in the
hospital but all are Improving slowly
as it has proved to be nothing seri
ous. . ;

schools are again closed until - the
Monday after Thanksgiving, because
of so many of the district having the
''flu. Those who are among the suf
ferers are in the homes of Phil Mur
phy, Will Murphy, John LeRoux,
Craig Tull, W. E. Gordon, E. H. Nlles
and Flora Xoyes, Lou and Fred
Hodgen. All the cases are of a light

condition at the Walla Walla hospit
al from, complications resulting from
the "flu" whlch.he had sevea weeks
ago. Pneumonia resulted during l)ls
sickness and he has never recovered
Mrs. Wright Is'also lit from the' same
disease In- Walla. Walla. Relatives
are caring for their two little chll
dren. Their many friends are anxious
about his recovery.

BAKER, or., Nov. 21. Found guil
ty by a justice court Jury of the charge
of bootlegging, Henry Newton, mem
ber of a local bootlegging family, was
fined $250 and given a Jail sentence
of three months. Later he pleaded
guilty to a similar charge and was
given a like sentence, making a total
of $500 fine and six months In Jan.
