GUARDS SEEK FUNDS

The Pendleton companies of the
Umatilla County Guard hope to real
ize enough from the carnvial which
will show here this week under their
auspices to complete their equipment
with uniforms. The carnival and
automobile sale conducted by them
last spring netted enough to equip
the first company- Co. C, however,
was not organized until a few weeks
later and no funds have been avail
able since for purchasing tholr uni
forms, though the organization has
borrowed "sufficient to send Jn the
order. Rather than ask the county
or city to pay the bill, they are bring
ing the Bernard! Greater Exposition
Shows here for a full week.
The carnival will be held on the
vacant block on Bast Alta .street and
will open this evening. HJsted
among the many attractions which
make up. the 20 cars carried by the

Ferris Wheel, Over the Top, The
Whip, Dare Devil Jackson in the
Motordome, The California Cabaret
The Athletic Stadium, whore "Young
