county rancn.
"Stock is doing fine in that section"
says Mr. Daughtrey, "and there is
every indication that we are going to
have early grassera of rather good
quality. The cattle situation "In the
country is not nearly as bad as some
interests would have us believe. :
"There is practically no sheep move
ment from' the Interior at this time. I
attribute this" generally to the fact
that monetary, conditions . are suh
that speculative activity is Impossible.
Sheep men are going to market their
own bupplies generally this season and
this" stock will go direct to the various
markets, whenever the supplies are
ready.
Quite a few hogs are . being pro
duced in Umatilla county this season.
While there axe not big individual lots
all the farmers even the small fel
lows are producing a few. If they
have good crops this season, and I be
lieve they will have, the hog produc
tion is sure to grow.
"It was rather dry in Umatilla cohn
ty while I was there, but the crops
