WASHINGTON, April 20. Names
famous for a century in American na
val history will be revived when the
live Imtllo cruisers now being built for
the American navy receive their
mimes. They will be named after the
Constitution, the Constellation, the
Saratoga, the Lexington and the Ran
ger, famous frigates in the War of
1812.
4he old constitution, now laid up
1 as an historical museum at the Bos
ton navy yard, will be- designated
hereafter as the Old Constitution: this
Constellation, now used as a training
vessel at Newport, will e called the
Old Constellation ' The famous ships
of the other names are gone.
Tbe present gunboat Ranger will
be renamed, and the present cruiser
Saratoga will be rechristened City of
