Auxiliary of the Umatilla Count
Ohnpter of the American Ited Cross
organized on Tuesday, April 17th, by
Mrs. H. H. Hattery, county chairman,
and Mrs. John Vert, county secretary,
held its first meeting on Friday aft
ernoon. April 20th, at the home ot
the chuirmun. Mis. jr. D. Watts
The members came prepared with
thimhles and needles and commenced
work on the supplies left them by the
county organisers.
A business meeting was held at
which It was decided to meet every
two weeks on Fritlny arternoon and
a committee appointed to procure a
suitable meetins place.
Mr. J. W. Portei was also elected
to serve as director Tor the auxiliary.
It was planned tu hold a contest
between two committees of five ladiej
each (the married against the sin
gle to see which side could obtain
the greatest .number of memlrs. the
time limit unrt forfeit to be neclded
