KAMELA, Jan. 18. The dance giv
en at the gymnasium Saturday night
was very much enjoyed by a largo
crowd. The music was good and cof
fee and cake were served at midnight.

Hilyard and Rhoda Mangers and Ja
Baker and Will Hllyard. From Dun
can, John Bryson. Mr, McLaughlin,
Mr. Bryant and son and daughters.

a few days with relatives and

it possible to walk without much dif
ficulty and quite a number of the boys

TRAMPS KILL TRAINMEN

tramps shot and killed OUb

cific freight. The trainmen
caught the tramps stealing a ride.
A fight followed. A posse caught
the slayers shortly and Jailed
them at Kimball. They refused
to divulge their identity.

there Is the additional disadvantage
that the young people of the state are
alienated in their interest from the
affairs of their home commonwealth
at the most Impressionable age. The
situation at Union may not be typical
but it is believed that an examination
of the roster at Whitman, Pullman,
Ellensburg and Bellingham, as well as
the University of Washington, which
claims an Oregon club with a mem
bership of 120, would reveal that
Washington is entertaining a host of
young Oregon people. On the south
California takes another large quota.
