Henry Conger of Iong Creek was a guest at the Peterson hotel Monday night en route to Cottuge Grove to spend Christmas with his daughters, who are attending school there. In a letter from Dickey De Vaul to a friend she said her father, Dr. De Vaul, was improving and expect ed to return to Ukluh soon after Christmas. R. E. Sturdivant left for Pendleton Friday to spend Christmas with his Bon olen Sturdivant, and wife. Sherman Hale met with misfortune a week ago when a straw stack tum bled over, burying a mare and cold, which were soon smothered to death. George Ellis is seriously III again at his home north of town and Dr. (Mil. land was hastily called Saturday, when he soon relieved him. Walter Allison left last night for Pendleton to spend Chrlstmaa with his wife, Jim and George Elder of Rltt&r were in town a few days ago bringing a load of grain for Buck Welch. Fred Murray of Long Creek passed through town last week, going to Van couver to spend the winter. J. D. Kirk, who has fitted up a temporary building where his drug store recently burned down, Is mov ing his stock in to his new place and will be ready for business in a few days.
