After an nouncing his Intention of Introducing a resolution providing for the seizure and sale of all food stuffs by the gov ernment, Senator James Hamilton Lewis asked for the return of all ad vance copies given the press. PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 11. The federal postal Inspectors conducted a wholesale raid arresting several men formerly prominent in Philadelphia finance. Officials declared they hil discovered a gigantic swindle involv ing two million and a half dollars taken from widows and orphans. The men sold worthless stock. Authori ties aid the companies involved in cluded the International Can and Electric Co., the Bachman Bank, tho Concord Can Company, the Suburban Can Company, the Gaston Gas Com pany, the Georgetown Railway and Light Company, the Southern Gas and Electric Company. The three first arrested are Ceorge P. Lancaster. Albert Lancaster and Percy K. Kissiger, all Philadelphiansv They are charged with using the mails to defraud. Three other indicted ar Clawson Bachman, Joseph T. Hay den and Amos H. Missiley. Postal inspectors and city hall de tectives arrested the men In mansions; Automobiles dashed up to the door, ways and the officers hustled the sus pects out. Twenty arrests were sched uled.
