According to Marion Jack who drove down this morning from his summer home at Meacham there was a heavy rain at Meacham yesterday afternoon and last night. A peculiar feature of the wather up there is the fast the nights recently have been warmer than in Pendleton. Montana Visitors Here. Hunkle who was arrested at Pilot Bock in May lor catching fish under the legal size pleaded not guil ty to the charge in the Pilot Hock justice court Saturday. Out of six fine registered shorthorn bulls purchased at the Union stock show by the Pendleton Meat Co. three have been sold and one of the animals was shipped out by the Northern Pa cific this afternoon to Pearson Johnson at Wallula. All told the meat company has recently sold 10 head of registered bulls to stockmen, two of the animals going into Grant county. The chief purpose in the move is to improve the grade of beef cattle in this section. The company does not favor the Shorthorn over the Hereford. Iain at Meacham. Although the official report shows that only .04 of an inch of rain fell in Pendleton yestemay, in some sec tions of the county considerable rain fell during the afternoon. Marion Jack, who came down from Meacham today says it rained hard there and many motorists at Bingham Springs came away early on account of a heavy shower. The 17-year-old son of station agent F. M. Luse of Rieth captured a large bass fish yesterday In a peculiar manner. He and his dog were stand ing near a small pond which is fed by a spring At this time of year the water is fairly low. Some time ago a number of bass were planted in the pond. Yesterday the dog sa the water moving about and he Im mediately Jumped in, splashing out the bass. The young man captured the fish. Fishermen Meet Tough Luck. F. W. Smith and Dr. O. B. Proeb stel of Pendleton were arrested yes terday by deputy game warden Ton kin on Upper Camas creek for catch ing under sized fish.
