They are being exhibited today in the La Dow windows. Van Skiver Will Probated. The last will and testament of D N. Van Skiver of Weston was admit ted to probate today. He leaves all of his property to his wife. Amy A., and names her as executrix. The estate consists of 120 acres of hind valued approximately at 110 000 and about JnOO worth of personal property. Mrs. Rose Bogert of this city, whose husband se cured a divorce from her a short time ago. and Clarence J. Prother of Chicago were granted a license to wed. By the terms of the divorce de cree Mrs Bogert is not permitted to marry again within the jurisdiction of the court until six months have passed. The frovernment telephone line in to Weston has now been completed, and is said to be about twenty miles in length. Three ranger stations on the Wenaha reserve are thus given high line connection nere. as is also Bingham Springs, Toll Gate and what Is known as the mountain "set tlers' line." Quite a few phones will thereby be added to the Weston ex change, which is constantly growing. Weston Leader. Arlington for Normal. Phil J. Mulkey of Arlington today returned to County Superintendent Yung i petition for the establishment of a normal school here fully signed with 100 signatures. Mr. Mulkey writes that not a single person ap proached refused to sign the petition and says that sentiment there seems to be strongly in favor of a normal school east of the Cascades. Supt Young also states that he has received an en couraging report from Morrow county. Save Uie Pheasants. Deputy Game Warden Cieorge Ton kin states that he has received word several times of pheasant nests de stroyed or disturbed by harvest oper ations. He requests that farmers, who mow over a nest, save the eggs and place them under a hen to be batched out. Recently on the J. N. Lurgess ranch near Pilot Rock a Hun garian partridge nest, containing 17 eggs, was thus disturbed hut 11 of the eggs were saved and put under a hen. Return.- From Valley. Mr. and Mrs. W. C E Pruitt arriv-1 ed home last night from an extended auto trip through the Willamette val- ley. They went as far south as Eu-; gene and. accompanied by the W. N j Matlocks. made a fishing trip up the( McKenzie river. Mr. and Mrs Pruitt were accompanied back by Miss Es- ther Fell of Eugene, who will visit I her grandmother. A. U Smith, the ranch hand who attempted to commit suicide Thurs day night at the G. W. Wattenberger ranch by cutting his throat with a pair of sheep shears, Is reported to day to be out of danger unless infec tion develops. Due to the timely ar rival of physicians, the wound was closed and a saline solution injected before he had lost enough blood to make his attempt successful. Smith had only worked one day at the ranch and evidently secured the Job In order that his body would be found quick ly. In the display window of the Dow ney market at the Dean Tatoni Co. store today is being exhibited the fin est display of trout ever seen in Pen dleton. There are 36 in all and none of them are less than :i foot in length. They were caught Tuesday in Four Mile Creek, the outlet to Four Mile Lake in Klamath county, by R. W. Rttner, Marshall Spell and Hoy Bu chanan who arrived home last night from a trip bj autu through the Wil lamette valley and southern Oregon, The trip to the tr ek was a difficult one but the sport .as well worth the effort. They fished hut a short time and made their catch within a short distance, fishing with spoon honks. They were forced to quit when they had caught ,u pounds. They cleaned ed the fish, dried Ihem with a cloth and wrapped them in clean dry mus lin so that one Would not touch the ther. Thev then wrapped them the center of their blankets and arrived here In perfect condition The uartv after leaving the Kose festi val, motored south and returned via the southern route, covering in all 1700 miles. They encountered some bad roads between Klamath and Pen dleton. Has Appendix Removed. Rulnh Perrv of Portland, who is employed on the local federal build ing, this morning underwent an oper ation at St. Anthony's hospital for the removal of his appendix. ( niiimlttce Raising .Money.
