The cemetery committee of the; council, acting In conjunction with merchants and others, is planning a program which includes a memorial address, a parade and a trip to the cemetery- The merchants have agreed to close their stores between the hours of 9 and 1 o'clock in order that all citi zens may join in giving proper rec ognition to the dead. A speaker will be secured to make an address, prob ably at the court house, after which a parade through the streets will be held. Following the parade cltisens will go to the cemetery where exer cises will be held. ' The cemetery has been Improved during the past few weeks more than it has been In the past five years pre ceding, and the committee has hard ly started upon Its plana. The road to the cemetery will be Improved before Decoration Day so that there will be no inconvenience for auto. tion and, if the vote is light, the wea ther will bear no part of the respon sibility. Chief interest in the county elec tion centers in the bond Issue and in the district attorneyship though the fight for the county clerkship, th treasurer's office and the office ol coroner ail claim considerable atten tion. In the state the principal inter est is in the Olcott-Moores race for secretary of state. There is much in terest in eastern Oregon over the pub lic service commissionership. Owing to the fact that the polls do not close until 8 o'clock It will be 9: S perhaps before any returns are secured.
